Ch 163: Purebloods

~ "Please don't tell Cory about this," I firstly plead. "I don't want him knowing about it."

Maria sighs, "I won't say a word unless I am asked because I can't lie to Cory."

I took a deep breath understanding and shared. "I ran into some women. The one-woman told me I will never be their Primary Queen."

"Who said this?" Maria asked shocked.

"A woman with long brunette hai..."

"Courtney!" Maria spat out her name before I even had a chance to finish my sentence.

"You know her?" I asked.

Maria chuckled not in a funny way but said. "Most definitely! She and her husband Pete are purebloods. Both their family's descendants come from the Highest-ranked military men before we were immortal. Their family has worked for Cory's Royal family since the beginning of Kingdom Society."

I was stunned by what Maria said. It made me second guess if I should've said anything.

"That's a long time," I mumbled. "Anyways, Courtney made it clear that she doesn't like me."

Maria said, "she doesn't like me either for being a tubebaby. Because without a choice, I married John considered an honorable Highest-Ranked man. Since John's family descendants come from low-ranked non-military blood. John is given an honor for working hard and earning the trust to live under the Royal roof. He lives under the Head King's roof which makes John a very important figure. John accomplished something that isn't easy and he achieved his goal as a young teenager by training hard and befriending Cory and the other sons of Highest-ranked men."

"I didn't know that," I stated and asked. "Why is Courtney so hateful and snobby?"

Maria sadly sighed again and said. "Rachel is part of the blame for that. She somehow corrupted most of the purebloods to dislike former slaves and tubebabies. This happened why before John bought me. Somehow Rachel convince the purebloods ladies that we were stealing their Highest-ranked men."

"Wow," I said. "Is Courtney friends with Rachel?"

Maria nodded and said. "Oh, yes! Most of them are considered Rachel's ladies. From my understanding, Rachel slowly brainwashed some of these ladies. Others might be too scared to stand up against Rachel because she's a Princess."

"That's crazy!" Im surprised Cory didn't correct it." I stated baffled to hear this.

"I think he put up a blind eye to it and likely thought it was petty. Plus Courtney's snobby because she's spoiled by her strict father. She is the only girl born and she has three much older generation brothers that work for Kaiser. But she has a little personal issue."

"A little issue?" I said sarcastically, "I think she has some major issues!"

Maria laughed saying. "I can agree but what I am saying is she hasn't given Pete any sons and only daughters. See our military husbands want sons that's the goal when impregnating their wives. Like John, the men are making their sons join the military too. Daughters are viewed as future breeders to be married of to the sons of these Highest-ranked men."

"How many girls does Courtney have?" I asked since I've known Kingdom men viewed their women as breeders.

"She has three girls," said Maria. "Named Amy, she's forty-five, Sofia is fifteen, and Cia is twelve."

Maria randomly giggled. "What's so funny?" I asked.

"One thing I find hilarious is that my son Jake crushes on her daughter Sofia. It makes Courtney so mad that Jake pursues Sofia." Maria told me.

I giggled and asked. "What does her husband say about it?"

"Nothing, Pete and John are good pals. The kids are allowed to court but it's up to Pete if he would allow Jake to claim Sofia or not. Neither Courtney nor I have any say. But I know she'll have a sassy fit if Pete allowed Jake to claim Sofia." Maria shared.

"That's sad Courtney is behaving so childish." I asked, "do you think Pete will let Jake claim Sofia?"

"I'm not sure," Maria said. "Pete has a closer relationship with Sofia. He's kinda in denial she's old enough to court. Honestly, he took it better when Amy started courting. But Pete's picky when it comes to his girls. He said before any boy claims his daughters. The boys have to prove they have a bond connection. Most of the men want to pick boys that have bond connections when making prearranged marriages."

"What if there isn't a bond?" I asked out of curiosity.

Maria answered, "we have a good deal of men who don't have an imprint with their wives. Some even have obsessions with their wives. Others have neither an obsession nor imprint and they prefer it that way. Since a bond connection is known to be dangerous for men and obsessions are dangerous for women. More or less, it's between the boy, the boy's father, and the girl's father. If there isn't a bond but if the boy wants to marry her. They can manipulate a bond to form which isn't always successful. So the boy might have to prove he'll always protect and cherish that man's daughter. If she were to cheat on her husband then she could get executed by her him. So that's why fathers try picking a man or boy with an imprint to avoid that from happening. It can be a serious ordeal if you're found guilty of cheating on your husband. A husband has all rights to execute his wife at the high court for willingly cheating."

My eyes gaped shocked to hear this. Now it made more sense with what Cory said yesterday about Rachel. He told me he'd end up executing her but I didn't think he literally meant he'd do it!
