Life as a Dungeon Core

Woken by a gentle voice, and given the name Orion, the last born dungeon core sets himself on the path to creating a new type of adventure for anyone who enters. Shorn of his memories, Orion's only goal is to slowly expand himself into a limitless, self-sufficient dungeon, free of trespassers. Please note: The MC is genderless, as an object that cannot reproduce itself would be, and has no memory of his past life. Foul language, mature content, death, rape and sexuality advisory.

While the hunter was setting up his camp inside, I quickly digested and respawned the materials directly outside the cave.

<Materials Gained - 4/10. Biomass Gained - 19/26>

Excellent.

As I gained the Biomass, I immediately spent it regrowing the grass and a couple weeds at the entrance. The rocks and sticks were mine, however!

The human began setting his strange objects down on my floor. Unattended! Excellent! Time to -

<ERROR. Dungeon Core may not steal from adventurers in the Dungeon. Second Warning Issued>

Wait, what? What if I immediately remake his object for him?

<Negative. Possessions must be abandoned within the Dungeon in order to be claimed, assimilated or added as treasures. Should the adventurer leave possessions in the Dungeon and fail to return within 12 hours, possessions can be claimed>

Dammit! I needed resources! Which I could only get if people left them for me. Useless system!

<Third Warning Issued. Punishment protocol>

<*CLANK*> "Son of a bitch!"

The human immediately drew his bow and pointed it in my direction, arrow drawn to his cheek.

"Don't mind me. Just... stubbed my toe."

Shaking his head, the hunter headed for the cave exit, having finished gutting hte boar and taking it's insides out.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I have to bury this. It's inedible, and the smell will attract larger beasts to come find me while I sleep."

"Throw it on the floor. I'll take care of it."

The human looked confused, but tossed the buckets contents onto the ground.

<Biomass Gained - 20/27>

The hunters mouth dropped open as the organs disappeared.

"If there's anything you don't want or need any more, let me know. I'll clean it up for you."

"This is just too creepy, talking to a rock, it talking back. Now it's cleaning up messes... Wait, the blood's gone? Weirdo rock."

"I can hear you, you know! Stop calling me weirdo rock! My name is Orion!"

"A rock with a name. Great. Well, Orion, I'm Gareth, a hunter from around these parts."

<Class Information Gained - Hunter - Individuals with talents geared towards the capture or slaying of beasts for food. Hunters are known for their stealth, nature sense, and abilities with bows, spears and knives. Preferred loot - Arrows, Light Armour, Knife, Bow, Spear. Preferred lifeform - Beast-class creatures>

<New knowledge assimilated. First time class knowledge gained - Energy +5>

Woah. I gained energy from knowledge?

<Negative. Bonuses were designed by the God of Creation to allow for faster development. When certain milestone events occur, Orion will receive different rewards>

Either way, that's kinda... cool.

"So Gareth, is the cave to your liking, then? I did offer to change it if necessary."

"It's a decent campsite, I can't deny that, but with the nearest water source being the river a few kilometers away, it's not ideal."

'System, how can I make a water source?'

<Water source - unavailable without supplied material WATER>

"Gareth, pour some water on the floor."

He narrowed his eyes for a moment, then pulled a strange looking pouch from his pack. Uncorking it, he sprinkled a small amount on the floor.

<New Material Detected - Water - Hybrid Material - Blueprint unlocked and available>

Excellent.

'System, claim 1 meter into the ground at the back of the cave.'

<Processing. Area claimed. Harvesting materials.... Materials - 9/15>

'Yes, a nice round opening, 1 meter deep. The make water to fill it.'

<Error. Insufficient Materials. Water requires 1 Biomass/1Materials per liter>.

'OK, make 9 liters then. Jesus.'

The sound of water trickling broke the silence of the cave. Gareths eyes stuck out of his head as he stared at the newly formed hole, with water slowly pouring into it from above.

"9 liters of water. All yours for the taking. It'll refresh every few days. Anything else?"

Gareth was standing completely still for a moment, and then began to vibrate silently. His shaking hand moved forward into the slowly diminishing stream of water.

'Is this how humans say thank you?'
