Let's be Mates: The story of a transmigrated Beta(?)

It was a no-man land...

The man in front, who looked double her age was sweating profusely.

From the moment he went against his Royal majesty, the emperor of Eloten Empire, Michael de Eloten, he was aware that this Dark Guardian of the Empire, will not leave him alone, but he succumbed to greed and went against the emperor, even if greed was not everything, what he did was definitely not something commendable.

His fortune was short lived... too short for him to enjoy it before being tracked by this guardian demoness, Snow Ledwig.

She didn't remember nor did she try to call him by his name because for her, whoever betrayed the empire was a sinner, if she could, she would have killed this man on the spot, but she who knew the last generation Emperors was taught that knights should be benevolent, they should always give everyone a second chance, it was a rule of the empire of Eloten...

She herself wasn't any better, she was similar to these sinners; it was the previous emperor who had given her a second chance to right her wrongs, a chance for her to repent for her sins all those years back.

Having said what she was supposed to, she simply took out a worn-out 'diary' from the inner pocket of her black knight uniform and started reading it without a care, even in this god-forsaken land.

This was a diary which had papers, a very very very rare existence in this interstellar world, the pages had already turned yellow and because of the repeated use by the owner, her.

It showed some tears here and there, but it was still meticulously kept by the owner, well, it was the only gift she had received from his Royal majesty, her ex-fiance... but the reason she kept it close to her at all times was a mystery, even to her.

The diary was very old and was actually a relic of the old... The original diary, as it was called in those days was found by his Royal Majesty, in his great grandfather's library.

In those days, they who were barely teens used to go to the library to get an experience of the old.

Eloten didn't exist in the past.

All of humanity actually came from a planet in the Nyuu Galaxy called Erth.

The population was very large which led to a global population explosion; there was a dire need of resources but it was just not enough for the current population... When everything was going haywire, a sudden phenomenon occurred...

More than 80 per cent of the population vanished into thin air....

It was called "Zero Counterattack", 'everything starts from nothingness and everything is nothingness', as the historians and scientists explained the phenomenon... It was probably the only time when both logic and fantasy said the same thing about a sudden phenomenon, well, technology back then couldn't explain it, even now it was impossible to do it as the Erth was lost...

But something had changed.

The population had declined to a level which was too low for survival and this sudden phenomenon had caused the germination of fear in human beings, but what scared them the most was the mutation that had occurred...

The day on which this fantasy-like phenomenon occurred three was a sudden change in the sex of the infants born, even if it was just a day before the phenomenon, the children born were very normal, but if they were born even just a day after, they were distinguished into a different gender.

The Alpha:

These were mutated similar to the alpha werewolves, they had a better talent for leadership and became people with extraordinary talent at whatever they did, the superclass. The birth rate was around 2 per 10 babies. As future time had proven it, their sexual drive was also higher and they also entered into a period of rut, in which they sometimes acted on their animalistic instinct and copulated until the fertilization would be successful...

In case of men, they knotted their partner in their rut period and ejaculated their seeds until the superficial 10 per cent possibility of fertilization reached as high as 80 per cent and if the partner was an omega in heat, it would reach to a higher percentage of 95 per cent, in case of Alpha women they could tie their partners and they secreted a fluid with a high percentage of serotonin that had an effect close to an aphrodisiac and made the copulation longer and stronger and though it was mainly not possible because of their statuses, scientifically it was possible even for the omega male with low ejaculation and sperm count to impregnate alpha women in their period of heat and rut respectively, this fluid also made their womb much safer for implantation.

This mutation also allowed Alpha women to impregnate others, that is there was a change in their anatomy and they had an extra 'leg' in between.

Among the very few problems that the alphas faced, one which was jarringly visible was that two Alphas, mainly of a particular sex, say two Alpha men, because of their higher sense of territory and possessive nature, they couldn't get along well..

It wasn't universal, but thoroughbred Alphas made it clear even for their Alpha children to stay away from them, but it was mainly seen in the aristocracy class...

Another thing was they had to take rut suppressants to take control of their rut period which had side effects starting from irritability to dazed and aloof attitude, in a way, because of this, many Alphas with a sensitivity to their rut or an Omega's heat, generally appeared cool and aloof.

They supposedly belonged to the higher level, but this was only seen in the aristocracy as the people of the middle to lower class family were not much affected by the gender division as a whole.

Alphas could "pair" with Omegas during their heat period by biting their gland, which was present in their nape, during sexual intercourse.

Pairing with an omega led both to be unable to have sexual contact with others, in case of sexual contact with someone else when paired, the paired partner will feel nausea leading to a severe case of vomiting plus an instinctual abhorrence towards others. The omegas in particular, after being bitten had a smell of their Alpha, which repelled other Alphas...

The Betas:

They were what we called 'normal' human from before the mutation occurred.

Men and women had average to high intelligence, they were called the worker class. After the mutation along with the normal population who were born normal, they made around 70 per cent for the population.

The only difference between the newborn betas and the earlier born normal children was that the betas were slightly more powerful than the normal children and though they neither had heat period nor rut, they could smell the pheromone of the other two classes which sometimes had an aphrodisiac like effect on them, they still maintained their sanity even in those periods.

The Omegas:

Maybe it was a counter-response to the declining population, but even male Omegas could give birth.

Omegas were very similar to the early human beings; in earlier days it was believed that compared to both betas and alphas, they lacked both in the brain and brawns and appeared frail, but in contrast to the normal human beings, they were born very beautiful and had a slender appearance...

It aroused both the instinct to conquer as well as a deep sense 'to protect' them. This case was magnified manifold when a pair was formed, the alphas become possessive and strongly protective towards their mates.

They had a period of heat every 3 months which lasted for around a week, though it may appear to be not that much of a problem, because of this irregularity they were not allowed to be in higher official position and sometimes not even allowed to work. They were not too different but racist ideas could never be suppressed, they were certainly treated as the so-called birth tools for a certain period of time.

During their heats, they secreted a high amount of pheromone which made them lust for sexual intercourse with men, more so Alpha men. In case their pheromones were not suppressed using suppressants, it also induced the rut period of the alphas, which otherwise came every 6 months.

They were very normal, but because of this irregularity, there was discrimination. Back in the day when governmental organisation weren't set up for their welfare, Omegas either faked their sex or used it for money, after all, the world didn't leave them a way out...

The only ways to suppress their heats were to either take suppressants, which made them lethargic and sickly or, have sexual intercourse with others... Another way was to be given a temporary mark, it was done by any alpha without involving in sexual intercourse.... but there were not many saintly humans much less alphas, who would help them for free, right?

Test:

A test could be conducted at birth, this was a simple test to distinguish the Betas from the other two genders.

As for the other two genders, it was possible to guess it. The test was based on because of physical traits;

Alphas as a whole had a knot in their genitalia and omegas, from birth, had less developed genitalia, but it was not very accurate considering beta and omega girls would look the same from their outer appearance.

As a result, children had to take a test which was made mandatory by the government at a later stage, it was to confirm their gender at this time. Soon, they will reach puberty and the heat and rut period of the two genders will start so, it was necessary to put them in different schools for higher education, it was another point which distributed the gender and developed a form of the difference between them.

Fated Pair:

A very rare case, where an Alpha and an Omega instinctively select their partners.

It wasn't love, it was just instinct of a fated person.

Apparently, the attraction of a fated pair was so strong that, the pair could not suppress their feelings no matter what, it wasn't logical.

Though it was not a rare case, a pair can also be broken.

In case either of the pair mates died, the mark on the omega will disappear.

But there was another way to break it, it was done by force and was usually was a choice of an Alpha, in case they bit another omega even though they were paired earlier, the first omega's pair mark would be forcibly scratched and their glands dysfunctioned, in such cases, the alphas didn't have to go through much, but the omega was scarred for life, nor could they form another pair, their mental state also became unstable, it was another reason for the discrimination.

Alpha saw themselves as the chosen ones, Betas were normal while the Omegas were tools which could be discarded.

The worst part of this 6 gender system was, there was a high chance of having an Alpha child in case parents are Alpha-Omega pair, as a result, many omegas were forced to be pair with alphas and bear them children, sometimes without their will...

As time passed by and the people advanced their mindset, technology advanced to a very high level and suppressants were made so, that they had no side effects.

In this far of future which Snow and his Royal Highness were a part of, the interstellar era, it was a very rare case for an omega to go into a sudden heat because of developed neck-masks, which covered the nape region including the gland, it didn't just stop the spreading of the pheromones, it also injected the suppressants directly into the gland in small dosage at the onset of heat, it acted similar to a barrier.

The development of the mask was a gift from heaven to the omegas as they could now work normally, also in case a mark was made without consent, mark removal surgery also became common in this era.

Humanity grew on Erth, but a certain threat arrived to challenge it for its existence once again...

They were the Zergs.

They were huge insects with a very tough exoskeleton, just a newborn zerg could be as tall as 2.5 metres.

Because of reasons unknown, they started attacking the human living in Erth, .....maybe it was to get a place for duelling...?

Humanity didn't want to lose their homeplace so, a World War ensued...

The result was the population that has just recently stabilized, declined again.

Humanity wasn't powerful enough to fight against them so, they decisively fled, it was a strategic retreat as they would be back to take their homeland...

It had been more than 4000 years since then, humanity grew under the leadership of the founder leaders and the population has again grown, but they still haven't taken their home back, to be more exact, they are happy with their newfound land, they didn't want to fight for a world only because of memories anymore, the exception being the nobles.

As they grew up, they were told the glorious history of their ancestors, about the heinous Zergs and how it was the job of the nobility to exterminate these insects and get back their motherland and hence the reason mechas were built, the humanity developed level for spiritual strength and physical strength to match compatibility with the build mechas and also the reason why, Yuki Ledwig wasn't sentenced to death or exile even when she committed so-called atrocious sin against the present Empress, the pair mate of his Royal highness, an omega...

The reason was very simple, it was because she had a physique with an SS physical strength and an SSS mental strength, she was at the top, the strongest on the whole Eloten Empire right now...
