***INCOMPLETE AND MESSED UP DRAFT*** ***EDITING IN PROGRESS***
After getting all the toiletries, they didn't speak about their circumstances again. Kaye had now believed that he couldn't really see after Ivan gave him reasons and proof.
Two hours later, they got all the things needed including the groceries that they would most likely need in the next 2 weeks. Since she bought some few days ago, Kaye mostly bought vegetables, meat, cold cuts and fruits.
"Let's proceed to the counter area. I've got everything we need or do you need anything else?" she inquired while pushing the cart towards the cashier. Ivan was walking beside her silently pondering if he forgot something when he stiffened.
"Babe, should we buy this or this? You can choose whichever you like." the voice sounds sweet like candy. It seemed that the person didn't see him. He clenched his fist on his side and walked again.
Kaye noticed that Ivan stopped walking so she turned to face him. He was looking pale and a little upset. She stopped for a moment and reached out her hand to hold the hem of his jacket. "Are you okay, Ivan?" she gave him a little tug but he didn't budge. She didn't force him to say anything but just stood there in the middle of the store, letting people look at them curiously.
"Are they having that 'couple fight'?" one of the shoppers asked to a passerby.
"You mean LQ or Lovers Quarrel?" another corrected.
"I don't think so. They were fine earlier when the boyfriend stop." another person whispered. Kaye rolled her eyes mentally as she listened to them.
'Oh please. He is not my boyfriend and we are not quarreling.' she wanted to say, but she chose to keep quiet when a man and woman who stood few meter away from Ivan exclaimed.
"Hey babe, isn't that Ivan?" the woman said tugging the guy around. When she uttered those words, she noticed the changes on Ivan's face. Though they were not considered friends or strangers, she still gathered all her courage and approached him directly.
"Honey, I know you're mad at me for not buying that. Let's go and get it then. Just don't be angry, hmm?" she boldly stated, intertwined their fingers and dragged him to her side then walked away from the crowd while pushing the cart like they were normal couple.
Ivan was knocked silly with what she did, yet he didn't stop her as well. Reaching the ice cream area, Kaye looked back and found that those couple were not behind them.
"I caused you trouble again." she heard him whisper looking down on their hands. Kaye abruptly pulled her hands like she was electrocuted from his hold.
"I...ahh..I...I was really bold back there. I'm sorry for dragging you here. I don't what business you have with them, but you were not looking good so I dragged you. I'm sorry." she was stammering again. Ever since she met this guy, she stammered a lot. She didn't want to see judgement on his eyes so she looked away before she could get a glimpse of his smile.
"I'm grateful for what you did. Thank you." Ivan didn't get a response from her so he continued, "I indeed know those people, but they're in the past." still there was no answer. He didn't know what else to say. In the end, he took his wallet out, took his card, grabbed her hand and placed the card on her palm.
"What are you doing?" Kaye was alarmed and horrified upon seeing his card on her hands so she stuffed it back to him.
"I'm letting you use it to pay these things." indicating the groceries and other stuff they bought. Ivan gave it back to her. "I've been freeloading food from you since I moved and now we're buying things that I would also consume and use. Let me pay for this okay? Next time, we'll split the bill."
Kaye was hesitant for a while before taking it. Using other people's card scared her and she didn't even use the card her parents gave her when she was in college. She returned it back to them so they could only give her cash for weekly allowance.
"Alright. Just this once. I don't like using using someone's card, not my parents' and absolutely not from anyone else including you." Ivan could her the agitation from her voice so he agreed to whatever she said including how they will pay the electric bill, water bills and other stuff.
Once they settled everything, they paid for their groceries and asked for someone to help them get a taxi so they can return home.
It was almost noon when they arrived to the apartment complex. Looking at her with three grocery bags, the guard automatically offered his help. Kaye gave him the one containing the meat, vegetables and other stuff since it was heavier compared to the other two. She was holding the other bag and Ivan had one as well.
"Let me cook something first for lunch. Go and change your clothes." she instructed him after getting inside their apartment room.
"Let me help you out. I will arrange the things we bought while you prepare food." Ivan offered to ease his guilt from being taken care of.
"That's fine with me. Just let me know if you have problems or stuff like that." she waved her hand indicating 'whatever' and took out some ingredients for lunch.
Ivan started rummaging on the bags to check on the meat first. "Meat should be placed on the smaller refrigerator. It is the one three steps to you left, just about your ear - tall." Kaye guided him when he was trying to listen of the refrigerator's faint buzzing sound.
Ivan was able to successfully place all the things they bought with Kaye's guide. Then, he went inside to change his clothes to a plain white shirt and sweatpants.
Since Kaye had to wait for her dish to boil, she also changed her clothes to a comfy extra large T-shirt and shorts. She removed her moisturizer and lip gloss before she went back to the kitchen.
Around one in the afternoon, they started eating lunch when Ivan's phone rang. He thought it was his auntie again so he answered his phone right in front of her. "Auntie, I'm currently eating." he directly said without waiting for the person on the other line to speak.
"Who wants to be your auntie?" when Ivan heard that condemning voice, his hands were trembling and the spoon he was holding clattered on the floor.
Kaye looked at him concerned to what happen, but since he wasn't saying anything she didn't pry as well. She stood up and took another pair of spoon and fork before picking the used one and brought it to the sink. She caught a glimpse on the screen but it was an unknown number.
"Can you turn this thing off?" he asked her without lifting his head but gave her the phone directly instead. The speaker wasn't turned on so she didn't know what the other person was saying, however, looking at him displeased means it wasn't a good conversation.
Without saying anything, she ended the call, turned off the phone and looked at him once again before putting it beside his left hand.
"You look like you want to kill someone. Eat first before you ponder on how to kill that person. I don't want negative aura in my dining area." Ivan smiled at her when he heard her nonsense.
"What are you talking about? I wan't thinking of killing anyone. I was thinking how to make them suffer for the rest of their life." he retorted back before picking up the new set of cutlery.
"Aiyyoo. This demon will not slaughter but cause chaos instead. How frightening." she exclaimed before taking another bite of her food.
"That's right. You should be afraid and don't speak this nonsense to Auntie." His tone wasn't rude but the heaviness told her it was a warning that should be followed and not disobeyed no matter what.
"Yes master." she acknowledged before they burst into laughter. They looked like a fool who converse with another fool. Both looking stupid.
