In Another World With My Best Friend To Live A Free Life!

A 'normal' life.... Everybody yearns a normal life. People work and live to try and achieve a normal life. Life where they would be happy and safe.

But the definition of 'normal' differs from person to person. For example, I don't like sweet food and I thought that was normal, but not everybody have the same definition of normal. Even the most simple definition of 'normal' differs.

For me, I just want a life where I could live without pressure of expectation. But, for a lot of people with the same dream it's almost impossible. It's impossible to run from your own responsibility, even if you do everything have a consequences.

So I tried to fulfill those expectation. From, expectation to help them, to save them, to make them successfull. Weight of expectation also differs from person to person. But, everybody have it. But, no matter what I do, I cant change anything about it as I'm just a 'normal' person. But, enough about that topic.

Moving on, today is the first day of the week meaning its monday. So I have to go to a place where students were tortured to have a 'normal' life in their future, school. It's a drag to go to school as I think the knowledge that they teach are pretty useless. But, it's also the time where I could just do whatever I want.

I'm right now walking. Just a normal, chill walk to the school. Right next to me is a boy, he looked quite normal with black hair and eyes, his height is around 167 cm. He looked quite the 'your normal everyday boy', meanwhile I look very different. I'm so different in fact that people started to envy me. I have a natural silvery white hair like snow which is rare enough but I also have a natural rare condition called heterochromia. Basically, it's a condition where the colour of my iris in both eyes are different. In my case, the colour of my left eye is bright golden and the colour of my right eye is a natural bright red. My height reached 175 cm tall.

Because of my different traits, people started to treat me differently. People looked at me with envy on their eyes and thought like 'Why am I not born like that?' or 'How lucky he is'. But I think those are foolish thoughts. Just because one person is different doesn't mean that is a good thing. So as I grows up, I only have a few friends. The guy walking next to me right now is one of them.

His name is Mochizuki Touya, he is just a 'normal' boy. But, that's just on the outside, in the inside he's an interesting person to say the least. He's right now as old as me and is in the same class as me. In fact, his family is the one who adopted me. But, I will never use their family name. My name is Ken and will always be Ken. I will never forget what the Mochizuki family have done to me and I will pay them back one day.

Back to the main topic, right now we are walking to our school. We aren't in a hurry as we are just walking normaly. We also talked quite a bit about different topics from manga to school life. As we were walking, we started to see different students wearing the same uniform as us also walking towards the school either alone or with their friends.

We were walking peacefully, without any problems other than some students occasionally glanced at us. In school, we were an inseparable duo as we already are together since even elementary schools. Back then, some students have the tendency to bully others and I'm one of people that got bullied because I'm an orphan. But because of that I could meet the Mochizuki family. I believe that fates connected us together, but I do believe we could control our own fates. Because of that I believe, I could be useful to everybody.

But enough about that, we finally reached school after a short walk. We walked to our respective shoe locker and changed and because we are in the same class, we regrouped and go to class together. As we entered our usual class and sit down.

I then began to think random stuff again. Right now, I'm thinking about my curiousity in swords. For a long time, I have a weird feeling of curiousity towards swords in general. It's a sharp and lethal weapons that were used before guns and other machineries were invented. But, I think until now its still a solid weapon for close range. In fact, I actually have trained on how to use a sword or specifically a Katana.

My curiousity actually eventually turned to a hobby. Until now, I'm still learning on using a Katana and I'm gonna say I'm pretty good at it. But, of course I'm nowhere near a grandmaster level. People say I'm so good at swords they said I'm born at the wrong era for a sword prodigy.

I've won a few competition and is actually almost at a master level. But, of course my young age and little experience also is a factor. Despite, my achievements I never actually disrespect my enemies. Because, I believe everyone that have the will to fight with their swords have to be respected for their bravery.

But no matter, what it is people will be envious at someone that have more than them. People envied my talent in swords even though I'm young. But, no matter how they envied me they are scared to do anything as one time they tried to attack me.

<Flashback>

*CLANG*

The sound of two wooden katana hitting each other resonated through out the room. The sound obviously came from Ken and a random person that he beaten back then.

"YOU!! HOW DARE YOU?!" He roared and charged forward. He slashed horizontally, I just blocked his strike by raising my own Katana. Even if this is just a wooden one, a hit to the neck will leave a bad pain afterwards. He seeing this retreated a bit.

"Why are you even doing this?" I asked him nonchalantly. After I asked that he seemed to becoming more angry. He said nothing and just rushed at me. I evaded or block every single of his strike and the more I blocked him the angrier he becomes. Eventually, his strike is becoming even more faster and stronger that even I have a hard time blocking it.

The reason I don't attack back is because I don't know the reason why he's attacking me in the first place. Eventually, his strike becomes so fast he almost hit me on the head. I quickly retreated backwards and parried his strike to throw him off balance. Then, after recomposing himself he started to talk.

"YOU!! BECAUSE OF YOU I LOST THE RESPECT FROM MY PARENTS, FRIENDS AND EVERYTHING!!" He shouted while dashing towards me.

"JUST BECAUSE OF YOUR STUPID TALENT!!" He shouted again then slashed vertically. The strike is very heavy as expected of how he's actually not weak. But, do he really thinks talent is the reason I'm here?

"What do you know about it to say things like that?" I ask him with a blank face. His face morphed into a surprised one when he heard my question.

"What do you know about all my effort since then?" I asked again still with a blank face. His face became even more confused and surprised.

"...I'm just a normal person, just like all of you. I'm forced to survive from a very young age. Without the guidance of family or friends." I said while walking towards him slowly. He seeing this also walked back slowly in sync with fear on his face.

"I'm forced to survive of violence by using this 'hobby' as an excuse to hold a weapon ti defend myself. I learn from my mistake, I trained to fix my mistake" I continued still walking towards him. He then stopped walking backwards as he feels that behind him is a wall. I then also stopped walking forwards and raised my Katana.

"Talent isn't something to be envied for. People with talent still work hard. The world is not a fair place and you need to accept that. Overcome your own weakness and you will one day find your the reason of why your holding a sword" I said. After I said that, he became as silent as the wind and as unmoving as a rock. Then, he started to tremble with tears flowing from his eyes. He started crying and said.

"Why? Why do you always win against me?" He asked me. I just laughed hearing that weird question.

"Hahaha, even I ever lost to someone, you know? There will be always someone higher than you. That's why I never got cocky. Because I understand, that life isn't just about win or lose. It's all about what do YOU want to do. Keep going forward and never surrender" After I said that a familiar voice called out to me.

"Um... Am I interupting something?" The familiar voice which is of course Touya asked. I looked at him and laughed.

"Hahaha, nothing. It's nothing, lets go" I said while going over to him leaving a crying boy with a wooden katana next to him with a smile on his face despite all of the tears flowing.

<End of Flashback>

That's that, I know it's sounded cringey and I understand why. But sometimes words are more effective than violence itself. But, I'm not naive, I won't give them a chance to strike me. I understand that the world isn't just black and white.

I then focused my attention back to the class and realised the atmosphere is now calmer. Noticing the atmosphere and the time displayed on the clock, I came to a conclusion that. The school has started.

<Time Skip until Lunch Break>

So right now we are eating in the school cafetaria. It's just the two of us as we both don't have many friends. Of course, doesn't mean we don't have any. It's just one or two person.

Well, right now we are eating our homemade bento that we brought. There are other people surrounding us but I just paid no mind to them. After all, having a lot of 'friends' isn't a good thing.

Speaking about 'friends' there are a lot of occasion someone tried to be 'friends' with us but because I'm pretty sensitive to sensing other's intention, so I could read him quite well. The reason he tried approaching us is probably because he wants my protection.

In school, I have a title of the 'Strongest' because the people who tried to bully me or Touya got beaten up so bad they quit bullying. They said my menacing appearance with my usual visible bright red eyes make me even more menacing for them. The thing is.... I don't even do anything to them, all things they're saying are just hallucination. I don't really understand whats scary from me.

But back to the real world, me and Touya were talking about some new manga that will came out soon. I'm quite interested on reading some of them as I found them unique. I also talked about the Kenjutsu competition that will be held one month from now. I now, I will ace the competition, but still why not still participate? Touya seems to know what I'm thinking and shot a glance at me. I don't say anything and just ate my food. He still looked at me suspiciously but decided to let it go.

'Damn, Touya intuition is scary' I thought and I felt Touya is staring at me again.

'Yeah, lets just eat' I ended my train of thought and just eat my food.

<Time Skip After School>

As we don't really follow any clubs activities, we decided to go home after we visit the convinience store to buy some drinks. We decided to just have one of us to enter the store. Touya decides to volunteered himself.

"What drinks do you want, Ken?" He asked me.

"Any drinks other than coffee is fine" I told him, he nodded and went inside the store.

To kill time waiting for him I pull out a manga from my bag to read. I always carried a manga of some sorts to keep me entertained. I was just reading peacefully, until a certain group decided to mess with me for a certain reason. I looked like a normal highschooler only with white hair. They can't really see my face as I wear a mask and a hat.

[3rd PoV]

On the front of a random convinience store a highschooler with white hair is reading a manga while standing and holding two bags. It seems that this highschooler was just enjoying his time until a random group if delinquents arrived.

"Look at that, Boss. We found an easy prey" One of the delinquents spoke.

"Hahahaha, you are right. It's time for us to get our pays." The biggest and strongest looking guy spoke up. They then started approaching the highschooler that was still minding his own bussiness. They stopped in front of him and called out to him.

"Look what we have here, Boys. A fancy looking boy that dyed his hair and uses colored contact lenses reading a manga on our place." The biggest guy spoke which is assumed to be the 'Boss'.

The highschooler was still nonchalantly minding his own bussiness, reading his manga. The 'Boss' seeing this isn't happy. Because the 'Boss' is clearly taller than him, he decided to grabbed the highschooler collar and lift him up a little.

"Listen here you little brat! Give me your money for our pay and we'll leave you in great condition" He threathened the highschooler who then looked up to the 'Boss'. The other delinquents were cheering the 'Boss' up, but when the 'Boss' looked at his bright crimson red eyes he flinched a little.

'What was that? It feels like I'm a powerless prey in front of it's predator.' He thought while sweat poured down his face.

"Hey, what are you waiting for? Drop all your belongings here" One of the 'Boss' subordinates shouted to the highschooler.

"Good grief, can't you guys see I'm reading a manga right now?" The highschooler said and pulled down his hat while still reading my manga. The delinquents looked at him weirdly until one of the delinquents decided to attack him.

The highschooler seeing this pulled down his hat and karate chopped the Boss's hand. The Boss immediately pulled his hand away because of the shock from the pain. The highschooler then tilted his head to the back a little to dodge the punch aimed at him. The delinquent that tried to punch the highschooler seeing this retreated to his gang's side.

"Seeing you attacked first I'll defend myself even if it means you will break one or two bones. After all, it's only a crime if you got exposed" The highschooler now pulled down his mask unveiled his grin.

[Ken's PoV]

"Seeing you attacked first I'll defend myself even if it means you will break one or two bones. After all, it's only a crime if you got exposed" I said to them while grinning. But instead of attacking them first, I continued to read my manga.

I observed their expressions while still reading my manga. I see that their becoming even more angrier and angrier each passing second I ignored them. I just chuckled in my mind.

'Hahahaha, people like this are very easy to taunt'. I thought.

"YOU DARE IGNORE US?!?" One of the delinquents shouted and charged at me. I easily dodged him, but he quickly turned to try and punch me. Of course, my reflex isn't something to be underestimated so I easily parried his punch than hit him on the abdomen. I don't have much in strength, but I win in technique. That's why I'm quite confident in beating them up.

There are 5 of them including the one that can't stand anymore. They seeing their comrade fall is blinded with rage. 3 of them charged at me at the same time.

"Now, its maybe good to cha-" My speech was interupted by one of them trying to punch me from the side. I ducked under the punch, grabbed his arm then thrown him to the other delinquent on on my left. He unfortunately dodged it and tried to roundhouse kick me. I ducked under his kick and grabbed his leg then forced it down. He loses his balance and stumble backwards. I then kick him on the chest and he flew away.

Now there are only two left, a normal delinquent and the giant one. The normal delinquent decided to charged at me fearlessly. I decided to confront him head on until he suddenly stopped a little farther than I could reach and sweeped kick me. I jumped in time to not get hit and without me knowing the giant one is already behind me. He let out a full force punch to my chest. Because I can't dodge it, I decided to block it head on. The punch is quite heavy but not heavy enough to crack any of my bones, but I do flew 1-2 meter backwards as the result from the punch.

"That hurts damn it!" I shouted in pain. I looked at him with rage and said.

"If you're ready to punch me that hard, that means you're also ready to take my full force punch head on!!" I said with a maniacal grin on my face. My right eye glows even more menacingly and with my grin that made me look like a psychopath.

<3rd PoV>

A highshooler that was picked on by a group if delinquents is now defending himself in a fight. Right now he has a maniacal grin on his face. The delinquents seeing this looked shocked but the highchooler seeing this took the chance to charged at them.

The highschooler charged at them with the speed of a professional athlete with a trail red and green of light from eyes that is seemingly glowing. He covered their original distance in under 2 seconds and throwed out a punch towards the giant delinquent chest but is blocked by him. The highschooler seeing this clicked his tongue and charged towards the normal delinquent. The normal delinquent cannot react as he only saw a trail of red and green light moving then he suddenly felt a sharp pain from his stomach and flew back to where his friends are.

With that the only one left is the giant delinquent A.K.A the 'Boss'. The 'Boss' waste no time worrying about his subordinates because he can see the highschooler attack is light enough for them to not get heavily injured. He immediately charged toward the highschooler. The 'Boss' have a huge body towering to almost 2 meter with enourmous strength and endurance. Because of that his strength and pain resistance is no joke.

The highschooler seemed to know about this and avoid direct confrontation with him. The 'Boss' knowing whats he doing decided to be more agressive and speeds up himself. Unfortunately, the highschooler still could follow his movement and when the opportunity strike the highschooler finally attacked.

[Ken's PoV]

'Tch, I can't confront him head on. He is much stronger than me psychically.' I thought while dodging his barrage of punch. After a while, I can see that he is slowing down because he is exhausting himself.

'If, I can't fight him head on then I will use tactic' I thought and keep dodging. After a while, his punch became slower and slower and when he decided to retreat to take a breath thats my time to strike. He started retreating to catch a break but I don't allow it and charged at him.

"Who says you can retreat? The outcome of this fight is already decided from the start." I said and appeared in front of him.

"ORA ORA ORA ORA" I shouted while throwing out a barrage of punch to atleast make him retreat and it worked as he right now is panting heavily because of how exhausted he is. He glared at me but I don't feel any intimidation from him.

"YOU!!!" He shouted. I thought he is getting ready to fight again but..

"PLEASE LET US GO!" He suddenly said which kinda shocked me a little. But because I'm not a gang member and just a 'normal' highschooler I'll let him go.

"Good grief, I'm sorry if I went to hard on you guys. Please dont do that again" I said picking up my manga, my hat that flew off my head and my backpack. With that, I look around and I see Touya waiting for me patiently. My eye twitched seeing this as he is just waiting while drinking his tea, enjoying our fight.

"Oi, how long have you been there?" I asked Touya and he casually said.

"Since the start" My eyebrow twitched once again but decided to let it go.

"Good grief, I'm gonna let it go for now. Do you have my drink?" I asked him and he handed me a coke. I immediately opened it and drink it.

"Ahhh, thats a good drink. Now shall we head home?" I said walking away while fixing my messy clothes.

<Time Skip>

We are right now on our way home from the convinience store. Touya decided to asked me what happened even though we was there from the start. So I decided to tell him from how they though I dyed my hair and used a colored contact lense. To how he tried to 'rob' me.

Considering they are just around our age of highschool, I decided to just go easy on them. But even though they kinda annoy me but their loyalty to their friends is kinda surprising. So, I decided to forgive them and we get a good laugh together. I'm right now still reading my manga while hearing Touya talking to me. He just tell me on how he was just watching us fight getting noticed. He laughed at his own story while a tick mark form on my forehead. But when I'm just about to get mad a sudden lightning sound echoed throughout the street. We looked up to see a clear sky with no cloud and just brushed it off as a weird noise. But as we were just about to started walking again a sudden lightning strike hit us and the last thing I thought off was.

'Ah, I still haven't watch the new JoJo anime' and I blacked out.
