You can cry

"Wait.. this is weird.."

Mia blinked twice in confusion, trying to process what was happening. "I clearly saw you playing so well, there is no way you would lose. Did you lose the game on purp-" Lorcan did not let Mia finish the sentence. He cut her words quickly. "So I have to obey you all day"

He changed the topic obviously, making Mia fell into silence in realization. "You won" she spoke and sighed. Lorcan shook his head in disagreement. "No, you are the winner. I lost the game" he lied through his teeth. Mia stared at the man deeply.

"Thanks.." she said under her breath. Lorcan nodded with a stone face. "You! You have to obey me all day, Lorcan!" Mia shouted excitedly, causing people to look at her. But she did not care, she just walked out of the arcade with the man behind. There was a smile on her face.

She could do her plan now, Mia went into the car as Lorcan closed the car door. He walked towards the driver seat and went in. He started the engine, driving off to the place where the young woman wanted to go. The car was directing to KFC.

Not too long after, they arrived to the KFC. Mia and Lorcan stepped into the KFC, could not even care about people stares. The young woman quickly walked towards the counter and ordered three cups of fried chips and two crispy fried chicken burgers.

Lorcan furrowed his brows in confusion.

When they got back into the car, he could not help but wondered why the young woman bought too many. "Drive to the nearest mall, I still have things to buy" Mia's voice cut off Lorcan's thoughts. He nodded in understatement and drove towards the mall.

As they arrived to the mall, the young woman directly walked up to the escalator, not even hesitating. It looked like she already knew what to buy. Lorcan pushed the trolley cart as Mia put snacks and drinks into it without caring about money.

Like that they spent an hour in the mall. "We are going to Kia river park" Mia spoke as she leaned back on the headboard. Lorcan nodded in understatement, not questioning why the young woman bought many food. She even bought the picnic blanket and paper towels.

He quickly understood that she was going on a picnic with someone, maybe with her friend since she bought many food. Little did he know that Mia was doing those for him. "Lorcan, can you please carry these pizza boxes? I will bring the blanket" Mia asked for help as the man assisted.

They two were standing beside the river. The young woman quickly took out the blanket from the car and walked towards the best place. She placed the white water proof blanket on the fresh grass. "You can put them down now!"

They two placed the food on the blanket in a minute. "Why the heck are you standing there like a statue?" Mia frowned at the sight of Lorcan standing beside the white blanket, staring at her blankly. "Because I am supposed to" "W-what the f- sit down! Come here!"

She patted the place in front of her, calling the man to sit across of her. "But you are waiting your friend, aren't you?" The question from the man made Mia rolled her eyes in annoyance. "What are you talking about?! All of these are for you! I am trying to make you feel better!"

Mia shouted.

Lorcan blinked twice in disbelief.

He stared at the young woman for a moment. She prepared everything just for him, she did those to make him feel better since he lost his mother. As if she could understand his pain. He was trying his best to hold himself back from mental breakdown.

Now this young woman made him feel better. He was overjoyed to learn that everything she did was for him. He was having a hard time to hold back his tears, he did not cry when his mother died because he was afraid that he could not stop crying if he started.

He only had mother since his father left him and his mother before he was born because he did not want to take responsibility. Now even his mother left him alone in the cruel world, he did not know what to do anymore. It was as if the world had lost meaning.

But the young woman in front of him was like a sunlight which lighted his broken life. Mia waited impatiently for the man to sit down. "Excuse me, Mr. Statue. Are you going to stand there all day?" Her impatient voice brought Lorcan back from spacing out.

"But still is that really ok?" He asked with furrowed eyebrows, making Mia sighed tiredly. "No more questions! You lost the game! So you have to obey me, Lorcan. Just sit down before I lose my patience" Mia pressed her lips tightly.

Lorcan quickly sat down across of the young woman. "Thanks.." he murmured but Mia heard him. She smiled at the man, "It is ok. I understand how it feels like to lose someone you love. It is really hard to move on, right?" her face showed many emotions.

Sadness, regret, pains, they were shown on Mia's face. They confused the man. He did not understand her at all. Lorcan furrowed his brows in confusion, if he was right, Mia Grace was not adopted or something. How could she understand his pain?

But he did not question, he remained silent and nodded at the young woman in agreement. Poor Mia did not notice what she had spoken. She just continued eating pizza. "Eat! I bought these for you!" She handed the crispy fried chicken burger to the man.

Lorcan accepted it and ate it quietly.

They two stared at the river silently.

The wind blew strongly in the evening where darkness started to grow slowly. Ma inhaled the fresh air as she took a sip of coca cola. "You can tell your problem, I am here to listen" she broke the silence confidently. Her ocean blue eyes fell onto the man who was staring back at her.

"No, it is fine" he looked away from the young woman, denying to say his problems. "Well, I can't force you. Don't tell then" Mia turned her attention back to the river, not forcing the man to tell. She enjoyed the comfortable evening.

"My father left me and my mother when he found out that my mother was pregnant. He did not want to take responsibility and left us alone. My mother did not give up and became a single mother. She loved me dearly and fulfilled everything for me.

But she did not tell me that she had colon cancer till the end. I just found out about that after her death, I was angry at myself for not caring her. I should have notice whenever she vomit. I thought she ate too much food since she was losing weight lately.

I was not a good son for her. How could I not notice her unintentional weight loss and suddenly vomiting? I really hated myself. She was a good no best mother but me, I am the worst son ever. I did not want to face anyone after her death.

Thankfully, Ma'am Camilla let me rest for a few days. I did not leave my room for two days and did not eat anything. I just lied down on my bed all day, staring at the ceiling blankly. I regret my decisions. I hate myself for not noticing my mother's problems.

She was struggling with colon cancer problem and did not tell me. She could have get rid of that cancer with the money in her hand but she did not. She said she wanted peace and put all the money into my bank account. It is unfair. I thought she was going to stay with me for a long time."

Mia listened to the man in silence.

She looked at the man who was holding back his tears. Mia bit her lower lip, feeling sorry for her bodyguard who was also her friend. She stood up from the place and went near to the man then she sat down beside him. Her gaze fell onto the man who was facing the river.

"You can cry, I will wipe away your tears with this handkerchief" the young woman took out the white handkerchief from her purse. There was a smile on her face, telling the man that everything was going to be ok. Lorcan stared into the young woman's eyes.

He did not say anything, just staring into her eyes deeply. Why? Why was the young woman helping him? How could she make him feel like that? How could she make him want to lean on her? He shut his eyes as tears started to drop. Mia quickly wiped away the tears gently with a smile.

"It is ok. Don't blame yourself. Your mother has found the peace now. You should be happy. She might not want to see you hating yourself. Instead you should be smiling proudly because you are going to be her one and only son forever. Sometimes, not everything can happen as you wish.

There will be a time to say goodbye even if you don't want to. You know, you are so lucky to have a mother who loves you dearly. I envy you..." The young woman's eyes started to fill with tears, thinking about her sorrowful past life. She held her breath to hold back her tears.

Lorcan frowned tightly in confusion, why was she talking as if she had a sorrowful life? He could not understand her. She was talking as if she came from another world. He did not think anymore, he just shrugged away them. His hand moved towards the young woman's cheek.

He caressed her soft cheek.

He wiped away her tears gently.

His lips curved up into a smile. He admitted that she was special. He swore in his mind to protect the young woman at all cost. She was special to him. Her words made him feel better. "Oh! Ice is melting! We should drink coca cola first!" Mia quickly wiped away her tears and stood up from the place.

She went back to her place and sat down. "Here! Drink it before ice melts" she handed the cup of coca cola. Lorcan chuckled at her words, she cared for drinks more. He grabbed the cup and drank it in a sip, making the young woman smiled in satisfaction.

She just changed the topic because she realized that she accidentally spoke out loud about her past life. Mia felt sorry for Lorcan, he had a sorrowful life. She was pretty sure that everything he needed was a person to listen to him. Looked like her plan was succeeded.

"Thanks.. I feel better now"

Lorcan smiled at the young woman. "You are welcome! I am always here for you!" They two smiled at each other. "Oh by the way, I am going to the mall when we finish" Lorcan raised his eyebrow. "Didn't you just buy many snacks and drinks?" He questioned in confusion.

"They are for today, I have to buy for tomorrow too. You can't complain about it since you lost the game" Mia smiled proudly. "It is because of me. I was the one who let you win" Lorcan teased the young woman. "Hey shut up! It is your fault, you can only regret"

"Yea, I understand" Lorcan chuckled.
