Naval Headquarters, Marineford
In the front square…
The generals stood facing the Marine soldiers below.
Sengoku was exhilarated, stepping up to the summit.
His gaze swept over the faces of the soldiers beneath him, and he shouted with enthusiasm, "Marine soldiers! How is everyone?!"
"Hello, Marshal!!!"
The response from the Marine soldiers was thunderous, echoing like a mountain roar, a tsunami of energy.
"Today, I have a question for you all," Sengoku said, his voice carrying across the square. "What is our Marine's standing army?"
"Justice!" came the resounding answer.
To those watching the live broadcast, the response seemed ordinary, but a few began to feel a shift in the air. After all, Marine flags and cloaks bore the symbol of justice—why was Sengoku asking such an obvious question?
Of course, if anyone else asked, it might have been dismissed. But this was Sengoku—the Marine Admiral! He was asking a question everyone already knew the answer to.
"That's right! It's justice!" Sengoku said with a smile. "We Marine represent justice!"
Sengoku paused for dramatic effect, then continued. "But—let me ask you something else. Have we Marine actually done justice?"
The square fell silent. Marine soldiers exchanged confused glances.
"Did we do it?" Sengoku asked again, his voice deepening. He let out a laugh, "No! We Marine have not done justice at all!"
The situation on the screen made the older, bald-headed star watching from Mariejois tense with worry. What was Sengoku playing at?
Sengoku's words echoed like thunder through the Marine ranks, causing a stir among the soldiers and shocking those watching worldwide.
"We Marine capture pirates—this is justice!" Sengoku said passionately.
"We Marine destroy the Revolutionary Army—this is justice!"
"But," he added, his tone turning sharp, "our Marine protects the Celestial Dragons—tell me, is this justice?"
The rhetorical question hung in the air like a shockwave.
The Marines froze, unsure how to respond.
"What...?" they thought, in disbelief. "Did the Marshal suddenly lose his mind?"
Although everyone knew the Celestial Dragons were corrupt, they dared not voice their true thoughts aloud.
"Sengoku... what's going on?" Rayleigh sat up, his expression serious.
"Gu la la la, is this world changing?" Ri Huzi asked, curious but hopeful.
Monkey D. Luffy muttered uncertainly, "Is this a joke?"
Mariejois…
The five Elder Stars were seething with indignation.
"Does Sengoku want to destroy everything?" one of the elders growled.
"Where did Marine get the courage to defy the Holy Land?" another elder questioned.
Sengoku, meanwhile, stood resolute.
"No!" he shouted. "That is not justice! The Celestial Dragons commit endless atrocities, treating human life as worthless! They turn people into slaves, with no regard for their dignity. And yet, we Marine protect them. Can we say we are just?"
The Marine soldiers were stunned, their training and beliefs thrown into chaos. Even though they knew Sengoku was right, the notion of opposing the Celestial Dragons was unimaginable.
"Nothing is wrong with the Celestial Dragons!" shouted one Marine soldier. "We must obey them!"
The dissent grew louder.
Sengoku, however, was calm, a faint smile appearing in his eyes. He had anticipated this reaction.
At that moment, a blinding light illuminated the square. Kizaru, with his trademark speed and shine, appeared overhead, smiling down at the rebellious soldiers.
"Yo~ looks like the secret agents from the World Government are making a move," Kizaru said with amusement.
Some soldiers tried to defend themselves, but Kizaru was already one step ahead, using his speed to disarm them and send them flying.
Violet, the woman with the ability to see into people's hearts, stepped forward, revealing the hidden agents in the crowd. With Kizaru's lightning speed, they were swiftly removed.
"Those who confess will face five years imprisonment," Sengoku announced with authority. "Those who don't... will be shot!"
Soon, the agents were cleared out, and the reality set in. The Marines began to see the truth—Sengoku was right. The Celestial Dragons were evil, and they could no longer pretend to serve them.
"I swear," Sengoku continued with conviction, "from today, Marine will separate itself from the World Government! We will be the true Marine! Justice will prevail!"
The Admiral and Vice Admirals stood behind him, shouting in unison: "We stand with justice!"
The Marines, seeing the top brass supporting this shift, joined in. Their voices rang out across the square, "Get out of the World Government! Be a just Marine!"
Even the Five Elders were seething with rage as they plotted their next moves.
But Sengoku's resolve remained unshaken.
"I resign," Sengoku declared solemnly. "From this day forward, Marine will have a new leader—a true Marine who will lead us on the righteous path."
Everyone stared, shocked by his words. Sengoku, the symbol of Marine power, was stepping down? Who would take his place?
The crowd held its breath.
A figure descended from the sky, landing with great purpose in the center of the summit.
Sengoku smiled with pride, "Please welcome the new Marine Marshal—Monkey D. Finn!"
The crowd gasped. The young man, standing tall with unwavering confidence, was hardly what anyone expected. He was young—far too young to be the new Marshal.
"Monkey D. Finn?" whispered one soldier. "Is he from Garp's family?"
"It can't be," said another, uncertain.
Finn looked out over the assembled Marines, his posture strong and confident.
He spoke, his voice clear: "Thank you to Sengoku, to Garp, to Vice Admiral Crane, and to all those who've guided me. Without them, there would be no Marine today."
He paused for a moment, before adding, "Now, as the new Marine Marshal, I stand before you not as someone greater, but as someone who's ready to lead the charge for true justice. Today, I've taken over because we all know—there can be no peace as long as the Celestial Dragons continue to rule. They must be stopped."
The crowd was silent, the weight of his words settling over them.
Finn raised his hand and shouted, "Soldiers! I order you all to make the elimination of the Celestial Dragons your top priority. This is the first order of my career, and I swear to see it through!"
The Marines stood at attention, awaiting their new orders.
"Does the world need justice?!" Finn asked, his voice booming.
"YES!" the Marines responded in unison.
"Then let us destroy the Celestial Dragons!" Finn's final words echoed like thunder. The time for change had come.
