Chapter3: Well hello there System

As I made my way back from the cliff edge, I could feel the adrenaline still coursing through my veins. The wind whipped around me, tugging at my clothes and tousling my hair as I hiked up the rough trail. My boots crunched against the rocky terrain, and my breath came out in puffs as I ascended the slope of the mountain.

As I climbed higher, the clouds began to envelope me once again, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. The mist hung thick in the air, obscuring my vision and adding an eerie sense of mystery to the scene. The clouds almost seemed to want to mislead me but i kept pushing forward, determined to reach my destination.

I followed the path that had lead me down the mountain, back up to passed the silvery streams and the plentiful caves.

As I wander along the mountain path, surrounded by towering trees, and the scent of pine fills my nostrils. My eyes are constantly scanning the area, eager to catch a glimpse of any wildlife that might cross my path. 'You never know when food might appear' it was another thought that now plagued my mind.

Allas i now knew where i was, but i needed to figure out what i would do for food and shelter. It would probably serve well for the meantime to find a hospitable cave to dwell in, until i could secure a more permanent settlement.

As I was making my way through the woods, I spotted a deer grazing peacefully in a clearing. I approached it slowly, not wanting to startle the graceful creature. To my surprise, the deer didn't flinch as I drew closer. It simply lifted its head, acknowledging my presence with curiosity rather than fear. Its soft brown eyes meet mine, and I am struck by the gentle innocence of this wild animal.

I continue on and further along the path, I hear rustling in the undergrowth, and my heart skips a beat. I cautiously approach the source of the sound and spot a family of rabbits playing and chasing each other. They don't seem to mind my presence at all, as if they assumed i meant them no harm. I watch with a smile as they scamper about, their fur gleaming in the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees.

As I continue my trek, I come across a bird perched on a branch, chirping a melodious tune. I stop to listen, and to my amazement, the bird hops closer to me, tilting its head as if studying me. It seems unafraid, as if it recognizes me as a friend rather than a threat.

The animals I encounter seemed to not have any fear towards me, or maybe even towards humans. Back in school I had read about a similar occurrence in the Kalahari, deep in Africa. In the study i had read it described how many species of animals didn't show any fear or distress in the presence of humans when the group first went all the way to the heart of the Kalahari for study.

The animals didn't fear the humans because their habitats had been completely undisturbed by human presence and had thus never learned to fear us. It was described as a very rare and heartwarming privilege to be able to witness, and i think i now understand why they described it as such.

This would suggest that the animals that lived in this part of the mountain, had never encountered humans before. 'Perhaps this could be due to whatever the clouds were trying to do to me?' I thought.

Breaking away from my thoughts i realized that i had made it to one of the larger caves that i had explored earlier in the day.

As the sun begins its slow descent towards the horizon, casting a warm golden light over the landscape, I step outside the cave where I have been gathering firewood. The air is still, and the sky is painted with hues of orange and pink, creating a breathtaking vista that never fails to captivate me.

I carefully stack the firewood near the entrance of the cave. The surrounding trees cast long shadows, and the earth seems to glow with a magical warmth as the sun sinks lower in the sky.

With the firewood collected, I set to work building a fire just outside the cave. However, I realize that I have no matches or any other conventional fire-starting tools with me. But I am determined, and my survival instincts kick in.

I begin by gathering various dry materials from my surroundings. I scour the area for dead twigs, leaves, and grass, as well as small sticks and branches. I look for materials that snap easily and feel dry to the touch, ensuring that they will catch fire more easily.

Once I have gathered a sufficient amount of kindling and fuel, I start arranging them in a small pile. I create a small, loose nest of tinder at the center of the pile, using finer materials like dried grass, leaves, and thin twigs. Around the tinder, I carefully arrange the larger sticks and branches in a teepee-like structure, leaving gaps for air to circulate.

Next, I search for a suitable fire starter. I look for rocks with high silica content, like flint or quartz, which can create sparks when struck against steel or another hard rock. I strike the rocks together forcefully, aiming for the tinder nest in the center of the pile, hoping to create enough sparks to ignite the dry tinder.

After several attempts, I finally see a spark catch on the tinder. I gently blow on the ember, coaxing it to grow and spread. As the tinder catches fire, I carefully add more small twigs and leaves to fuel the growing flames, being mindful of not smothering the fire.

With patience and careful attention, the flames gradually grow larger and hotter, igniting the larger sticks and branches around it. I continue to add progressively larger pieces of wood to the fire, nurturing it with oxygen and fuel until it becomes a roaring blaze, providing me with the warmth and light I need.

As the fire crackles and the flames dance, I feel a sense of satisfaction and relief. I have successfully started a fire without matches, relying on my resourcefulness and survival skills.

As the fire crackles and grows, I sit back on a rock, mesmerized by the dance of the flames. The changing colors of the sunset reflect in the fire, casting a warm, flickering glow on the rocks and trees around me. The cool breeze carries the scent of burning wood and the faint aroma of the wilderness, creating a serene ambiance that envelops me.

I watch as the sun sinks lower, gradually disappearing behind the distant mountains, leaving behind a canvas of deep purples and blues in the sky. The stars begin to twinkle, one by one, as the night takes hold. The fire provides a comforting warmth against the encroaching chill, and the crackling flames cast playful shadows on the cave entrance.

With the fire now roaring and casting a warm glow around me, I settle down by its side, feeling grateful for the simple pleasures of nature. The peace and tranquility of the moment fill my heart with a sense of awe and wonder. I am reminded of the beauty and power of nature, and how it can bring solace and comfort even in the midst of wilderness. I sit there, under the starry sky, watching the fire dance and listening to the sounds of the night, feeling at one with the natural world around me.

All of a sudden I'm startled when a bright blue light illuminates in front of me.

I was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that i had been transported to this fictional world from my own reality, and now, to make things even stranger, a glowing interface had appeared in front of me, displaying bold letters.
