His little distraction

Glaring daggers at her alarm clock which obviously had no life, Ophelia got down from her bed, her hair was a total mess. she didn't bother checking the time, today was totally for her.

She walked up to the large picture frame at the end of her room, taking in it's beauty, she heaved a sigh of contentment.

Her idol!

She caressed the picture, daydreaming but her early morning routine was interrupted by the consistent ringing of her phone, she grumbled before checking the caller ID.

Bestie, what did she want now?

She let it ring a few times before answering the phone and immediately the girls voice pierced through the speaker into the silence of her room.

"What's the problem Scarlett?" she asked coldly while the girl on the other end kept mute for some seconds.

"Director Jace is holding a meeting today specifically for our department" she said and Ophelia hissed

That old man!

"Any idea of what's happening" she asked and then she heard the voice from the other end.

"Nah! Any time I think about it my mind goes blank. Uh-ophelia I think you should be early today on purpose, the news about the meeting has gone round" Scarlett said while Ophelia rolled her eyes.

You wish!

Without her that meeting could never hold, she was the pillar of the department after coming up with hot topics weekly and she had even been awarded the best employee for the month thrice, she sighed before sticking her tooth brush into her mouth

Dressed in her work attire, a brown, lap-length skirt with a white shirt and flats. She packed her hair in a ponytail as she picked up her bag that seemed heavy while she let her camera dangle carelessly across her neck, her belief was that hot topics could come from anywhere. She locked the door of her apartment before taking the lift and leaving the building her hair swinging behind her. She hailed a cab which stopped almost immediately.

After paying her transport fare, she got down from the cab and began to head to her working premises.

Still mesmerized by the fact that she was working here, she felt a little tug on her hand and she turned sideways.

"Scarlett?" she called and the girl smiled, she seemed eager to tell her something.

"Ophelia I've got the info about the meeting" Scarlett said and she received a look that meant 'Go on' from Ophelia.

"Right, I heard our company is lacking behind in giving out top news" She paused while Ophelia nodded.

"So he's looking for anyone who can get a hot topics" she stopped again.

"So that's easy" Ophelia replied as she caressed her lucky charm.

"Easy? the person gets a 20 percent increase" Scarlett said and Ophelia's eyes widened.

"A 20 percent increase?" she repeated as if to confirm and she nodded and of course she was stunned, just how back wards was the company that they needed to resort to such means and how come she didn't know about it.
