Chapter 29

While Ordis was contacting the police, I went through the pockets of every person here. The black car didn't escape my search but other than some locked cellphones, I couldn't find anything special.

Aster: This was a start I guess. Could have gone better but oh well...

I ran on a wall and jumped through an open window with rocketjump.

Reaching the roof with a few wall jumps, I got an idea.

Aster: Ordis, I need you to keep scouting the area around me through Serenity. See if there's any criminal activity but stay hidden.

Ordis: As you wish, Operator.

With that out of the way, I started to move towards the Dorei warehouse after checking its address online.

With my speed, it didn't take long. The warehouse was quite large and it gave the feeling of a factory. A three meter tall fence surrounded it and a few guards were patrolling the area.

I checked around the place to see a good point of insertion. The entrances were heavily guarded. There are a few air vents but if I tried to enter, I might be seen by the surveillance cameras.

Aster: Ordis, can you bring Serenity close to the building with the deployment capsule directly in front of that vent, close to the roof?

Ordis: An excellent plan Operator!

I got inside the deployment capsule and Serenity, vertically got close to the wall, almost touching it.

I found myself a few inches away from the air vent. While hidden from the camera, I quietly removed the cover and entered inside.

Crawling inside, I found myself on a long downward path before I found the first opening. I checked for people or cameras and jumped inside the room.

It was dark but not too much.

"With such lighting, I can easily hide and still be able to see where I'm going!"

Without anything interesting in this room, I found the door and exited.

The corridor outside was also not lit but there were a few dim blue lights on the sides of the floor that lit the way.

"This looks kinda cool! I should ask Ordis if we can do that to Serenity too."

The ceiling was very tall so I used the same tactics that I used in the park.

I moved by jumping from wall to wall from high up.

I passed a few guards that were patrolling but weren't bothered to look up.

"Lucky me!"

At some point, as I entered a huge room filled with all kinds of crates, gunshots were heard throughout the place. There were also a few tremors.

Aster: What the hell is happening.

An explosion shook the building and some crates fell from high up and landed on some crates below.

Lots if guns were spilled and behind the wall of crates, something metallic was revealed.

Aster: T-they have a freaking tank? The shady mobsters just became bona fide Terrorists!

I was walking towards the tank and something exploded a few meters away from me.

No, it wasn't an explosion, someone was thrown through the floor from below.

I jumped a few meters back and braced myself.

The one that made the hole on the floor landed with a loud bang. It was a tall and very buffed man with the head of a rhino. Warning signals kept ringing in my mind.

"If a tough guy like this was beaten up so badly, I don't want to be here when the one who beat him arrives. Especially if I must not use my normal Warframes and abilities."

And with that thought, I started running full speed to the door where I came from.

To my surprised, just as I reached for the door, a blue portal appeared in front of me and without being able to stop, I entered.

"I should have jumped up!"

Was the first thought that came to my mind as I exited the portal.

Cold and relatively strong breeze hit my face.

I was on a roof of a building, probably the warehouse and I wasn't alone, as a shadow with red lights caught my eye. It wasn't coming close and I didn't sense any hostile intention from it.

Aster: At least I'm outside!

"Aster: Ordis, bring Serenity to my position and stand-by close."

The first thing I did was secure my escape route.

??: You don't seem that surprised.

"The voice from before!"

She was the same person that got the weapon crate and the money.

Aster: I just hide it well.

She giggled and stepped towards me where I could see here more clearly.

She was probably a bit taller than me but I couldn't be sure since she wore something that looked like a black motorcycle helmet. It was streamlined and the red visor had a trident shape.

A skintight black suit wasn't doing a good job in hiding her explosive body and dark red lights that were located on the front side of her shoulders, middle of her chest, palms and both sides of her waist, gave the suit a futuristic feeling.

??: You shouldn't be here you know.

She leaned back to a column and crossed her arms.

Aster: I can say the same thing!

I looked around to see in anyone else is up here. Finding no one, I calmed down a bit.

Aster: Usually, it is I who takes a girl out to see the night sky. And we didn't even have our first date.

I said cheekily.

??: What can I say? I don't like to take things slow. Now, leave or I'll have to arrest you.

She played with some strange looking handcuffs in her hands.

"I should definitely avoid those. They probably dampen powers."

Aster: You're a cop? And what do you mean arrest me? It was I who got the information out of that guy about this place!

??: Yes, let's just say I'm a cop and leave it at that. And about the information, thanks but you still need to leave. The only reason I didn't arresting you immediately is that I know you're not one of them.

"I shouldn't really push her or she might really do it"

I chuckled and took a step back.

Aster: Ok, I'll leave but first, can you tell me your name?

She stayed silent for a couple of seconds.

??: Pathfinder.

Aster: Pathfinder? Hmm...not cute at all!

Pathfinder: It doesn't have to be cute!

She raised her voice and clenched her fists.

I raised my hands a bit.

Aster: Ok, ok, don't get angry!

I turned around and started walking towards the edge of the roof.

Pathfinder: You asked for my name but you didn't introduce yourself. Also, this building is surrounded, you can't jump down without being seen!

"Shit! There goes by cool exit!"

"Aster: Ordis, plan b!"

I turn halfway toward her.

Aster: Who am I?...I'm Batman!

I said in an 'as cool as I can' way. Then I jumped up as a de-cloacked Serenity swooped and picked me up.
