Lín Ying, an artist who studied abroad returns home to a nightmare when she discovered that her father was battling a terminal disease. She thought everything would be fine because she was from a reputable family who owned few businesses but she discovered that her father's company was crumbling and the only way to save her dying father was the marry the famous arrogant Chen Zhen. In China, Chen Zhen's name was known across the country for being a man with an iron fist. He was a business tycoon who owned different firms in various parts of China and even overseas but if one thing was for sure, it was the fact that he never paid attention to women. In fact, rumours had it that he was either gay or impot*nt. What would happen when these two people are forced into an arranged married?
It was a rainy afternoon in the month of July when Lin Ying ran into the hospital. She was just coming from the airport when she got the news of her father's terminal illness.
As Lin Ying ran along the halls, her heart was pounding like a beating drum. 'I'm not too late, am I? Why did they keep this away from me?' a lot of questions went through her mind as she ran down the halls.
Finally, she got to the room and pushed the door open without warning. Everyone else was invincible to her as she spotted her father on the bed with oxygen passing through his nose.
As she looked at him, it felt as though time stopped. A drop of tear fell from her eyes as she staggered to where he lay.
Mrs. Lin wanted to comfort get daughter because she knew just how much Lin Ying loved her father. But Lin Ying's grandmother stopped her.
Sòng Ting, Lin Ying's grandmother shook her head at Mrs. Lin and then moved her aside.
"We kept this away from her for too long. Let her speak to her father."
Lin Ying stood and looked at her father as he laid on the bed. With her hands shaking, she reached for his. Holding her father's slightly warm hand, she began to cry silently. She held his hand up to her cheek to warm it up and cried even more.
No one told her that her father had been sick for the past three months. Whenever she called to say hello to him, they would either say he is busy, sleeping, or they would come up with any excuse just to keep her from knowing.
She was in her final year at the university and that was the main reason the Lin family decided to keep it away from her.
Lin Ying only heard about her father's condition when she was done with her final paper. As soon as she heard the news, she took the next flight to China.
It was a hard time for the family, even the family business was not doing well.
Lin Ying stayed with her father for hours while Mrs. Lin and Song Ting went back home to get some things sorted out.
Hours passed and Lin Ying decided to go back home to get some fresh clothes for her father and also some fruit just in case he woke up.

"Mr. Chen has already agreed to it. Getting her married to Chen Yi's son will be the best idea. How else are we going to come up with the money? The company is already on the verge of bankruptcy and Lin Bo's life is hanging on a tread." Lin Quan, Lin Ying's grandfather explained.
"But how can you think like that? Lin Ying just got back and you want to marry her off for money? Don't you think that is heartless?" Song Ting criticized.
Zhou Yun, Lin Ying's mother sat there lifeless. She couldn't go against her father-in-law but this was her daughter they were talking about. Marrying her off to that proud and arrogant family was like sending her to Lion's den.
She mustered up the courage and spoke, "Father, Lin Ying shouldn't get married to Chen Zhen because of money, I'm sure Lin Bo wouldn't be happy with this and..." she was still talking when a voice from the entrance silenced her.
"I'll do it." Lin Ying spoke drawing everyone's attention to her.
Mrs. Lin and grandmother Lin stood up in accord. Zhou Yun could feel her heart throbbing hard. She walked to her daughter to try and talk her out of it.
"Ying Ying, what are you saying?" she chuckled softly, "Grandpa didn't mean what he said, I assure you." she lied and the old man raised his brow slightly hearing his daughter-in-law's words.
Lin Ying moved away from her mother and walked to her grandfather who she barely knew, "I accept this marriage. Please inform the groom's family that... that I'm ready whenever they're ready." after saying this, she walked upstairs without looking at any other person.
Zhou Yun placed her hand on her mouth to muffle the sound of her cry. Song Ting looked at her daughter-in-law and felt bad for her. Even though she wished there was something she could do but they all knew that Lin Ying never goes back on her words.
The young lady went up to her room and closed the door. Not even a drop of tears fell from her eyes. She hit her chest with her fist slightly with a serious expression. "I Lin Ying, always find a solution. It's just marriage, it's not the end of my life." she nodded, "Yes, I'm doing this for my father."
