Follow Alaric in his journey to be the strongest wizard out there by hook or by crook. This is the story of a guy who went to a different world to get power and to find new relationships in his life. Read how he fights off Voldemort in process becoming the leader of new generation of wizards and builds up his new life with his new friends, family and wife. A story of a wizard using his wisdom and power to ascend to the pinnacle of the world, who will do anything to protect his new family. This is a little slow paced and also somewhat slice of life story so keep that in mind, that focuses more on Alaric's relationship. There will be heavy changes to the original plot so be aware and also MC becomes overpowered rather quickly as the story moves forward and he won't hesitate to take some drastic measures if necessary, so he won't have a moral compass. Alaric successfully obtained the Diadem of Ravenclaw and destroyed the fragment of Voldemort's soul within it.
This means that his primary goal upon returning to Hogwarts has been achieved.
Now, Voldemort is unaware that six of his seven Horcruxes have been destroyed, with only one remaining—the large snake, Nagini.
Since Nagini has been closely associated with Voldemort, this Horcrux remains temporarily out of reach.
However, if Alaric confronts Voldemort directly, he will inevitably encounter Nagini.
After all, Voldemort considers the creation of Horcruxes a major secret, possibly still believing he has concealed it from everyone and feels invincible in his position.
As for Alaric's side?
Under Alaric's directive, the Bones faction in the Ministry of Magic has launched a comprehensive war against the Death Eaters.
Due to Alaric's prior blows to Cornelius Fudge and the open support from Dumbledore, the Bones faction has now gained a dominant position in the Ministry, defeating Fudge's faction in the political struggle.
The Ministry of Magic, as the governing body of the British magical world, has several direct departments:
- "Office of the Minister for Magic and Logistics": Directly under the Minister for Magic, it functions like an organizational and secretarial body, not detailed here.
- "Department of Magical Law Enforcement": The largest department in the Ministry, it combines the functions of military, police, and judicial departments, akin to the UK Home Office.
Due to the magical nature of the world, a military presence is less critical, and maintaining public order is the main focus.
The Auror Office, as the Ministry's force, serves a role similar to a combined military and police unit.
The head of this department, Amelia Bones, has strong political support from the Aurors, who are naturally hawkish and the most resolute against Voldemort's return.
- "Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures": The second largest department, handling issues related to magical creatures and races. Fudge's influence is significant here.
Although magical creatures are essential in the fight against Voldemort, Alaric's side has less reliance on this department since Dumbledore's connections ensure that non-dark magical creatures remain neutral or supportive.
- "Department of International Magical Cooperation": Similar to a foreign affairs department, formerly led by the now-deceased Bartemius Crouch Sr., who was a staunch opponent of the Death Eaters.
After his death, Fudge took control, but Alaric does not expect much foreign help in the fight against Voldemort, so this department's leadership is less of a concern.
- "Department of Magical Transportation": Manages the main transportation methods for wizards: brooms, Portkeys, Floo Network, and Apparition.
During the conflict between Bones and Fudge, this department has also split into factions.
- "Department of Magical Games and Sports": Oversees magical sports, with Quidditch being the most prominent.
Ludo Bagman heads this department, which has aligned with the Borne faction due to Alaric's influence.
- "Department of Mysteries": Focuses on secret research into specific mysteries (death, time, space, thought, and love) and the storage of prophecy records.
More of a research institute and archive, it does not engage in political struggles.
Beyond these departments, the Ministry of Magic also contends with the "Wizengamot", a powerful body akin to a combination of the highest court and parliament.
The Wizengamot serves as a jury in trials but holds significant power.
It is closely intertwined with the Ministry, with many Ministry officials also holding seats in the Wizengamot.
Unlike the original, Dumbledore is still the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, and Alaric has notable influence there as well. Fudge also has his supporters, the pure-blood faction, many of whom side with Voldemort.
As Fudge's power wanes, he has increasingly aligned with the pure-blood faction, but modern attitudes have diminished its influence.
Consequently, the pro-Bones faction remains dominant in the Wizengamot.
