When Rudolf offered him help during the dismount, Baptist accepted it, despite being more than knowledgeable in regard to basic equine etiquette. He was fifteen, now, and if he didn’t know how to mount and dismount a workhorse like this, he would’ve been a laughingstock back in Burke. But it was a kind gesture, and anyway, it seemed to be a second nature offer for the captain rather than an action performed specifically for the slave. It made sense, since he had likely been helping Prince Heiko off of horses since the master was young.
On top of that, the ride was long. His master had said that they were a little more than halfway to Dolfo, and with the speed at which they were traveling, that didn’t surprise him.
