"The two teams are neck in neck! Tom and Roger are fully controlling the situation leaving Sandra to hide! Will Wilona's revival time be enough for them to make a comeback?" the host announced as he provided commentary. Other than a few words here and there, he kept silent to allow the players full concentration.
"How much longer until you're revived," Sandra asked. She was wary of her surroundings for fear she would get attacked. She had a token so she could revive if she did die, but in the span of their revival, if the enemy collected enough tokens, they would lose.
"I still got 10 seconds," Avina answered. The time was taking so long, and she was anxious to be alive again. She had to win!! The victory was theirs!
"Ok! I'm back," Avina told Sandra. "Wait for me and be careful. I'm going to go to you right now."
Avina raced through the map. Along the way, she was wary of her surroundings. Each passing of a bush was followed by an attack to make sure no one was there. After checking, she continued. Before long, she reached the bush where Sandra was in.
Sandra saw that she was near, and headed out of her hiding place. They were just about to meet before successful attacks were launched on them. Rains of beautiful blues and reds fell from the area onto them lowering their HP like melted butter.
Sandra ran as fast as her figure could run out of the range of attacks, but they wouldn't stop. Avina was also running and dodging, thanks to 5025, and soon realized where all the attacks were coming from. They were coming from opposite sides of them; they were trapped!
"Just when Wilona revived and met her partner, they were equally met with despair! The enemy found them and once more, the two sides are fighting!" the host yelled out into his microphone. With his words, you couldn't help but feel lured into the battle.
'How can I get out of this!?' Avina shouted. They were trapped and low on HP thanks to the sneak attack.
Avina looked over at the enemy fort (their table) and glared. They, who were tapping away, saw her glare and smirked back.
'How absolutely devious! How despicable! How diabolical!'
'I can hack a little into the computer and make it glitch,' 5025 said. 'Just enough for you to go to one of them and attack them. You'll have to revive again, but if you use your third skill, you should be able to one hit them- just one.'
'Okay! Just do it! We need to survive right now!'
For just a quick second, Avina's character flickered. The attacks launched onto her deflected off leaving no traces on her HP. She rushed forward and prepared her skill. In one fell swoop, she hit her target and they instantly died.
Sandra, who was following close behind, gapped at the magical scene before her. Avina ran away again and Sandra snapped out of it and ran with her. They had escaped another deadly situation.
"A close fight with only a sliver of HP, but they managed to escape! Absolutely miraculous!" the host gasped. It was a heart-pounding situation where he was on his toes wondering if they could survive, but they did it! They somehow managed to!
The two of them hid inside a bush and clicked the green button. Their HP slowly refilled again until it was 75% full. Then, they walked out of the bush again. If they weren't cautious before, this time they were.
Wandering around, they encountered their enemy again. A standoff ensued before the first attack was launched. The other side was overpowering and it was impossible to fight them off. Just looking at their skills, they knew Tom and Roger were skilled. They weren't some newbies who fed the enemies every day, but full-on carries who made the feeders look decent!
'5025,' Avina shouted. They were cornered, and she needed her great system's magical hacks. 'Show me your skills!'
'Oka-' 5025 was about to help out, but then it detected the presence of hostility. Scanning deeper, it found the person to be a couple of floors away hacking into the computer! It didn't need to find out what they were doing to know that it was bad, and it must stop them!
'There's a hacker! Sorry Host, but I need to fight them off.'
Avina was thrown into a desperate situation where she didn't know what to do. Her system was fighting off, most likely, the man Adi hired. She was about to die once again and Sandra was definitely dead once she was too. The other group only had a few more tokens to collect, and if they died here, they'd lose for sure!
But she also knew that if she could fend off the enemy for a bit, run for her dear virtual life, 5025 would be done dealing with the hacker and help her. She just had to survive long enough.
"Sorry, Sandra," Avina whispered an apology.
In just one tap, Avina ran away from the battle leaving Sandra behind. Sandra left to fend for herself and died under the attacks of the enemy. Sandra was a little upset, but she knew their best chances of winning was to bet on one of them to survive and the other to safely revive. So for now, she stared at the screen waiting to revive and then join up with Wilona.
"An unexpected situation has occurred! Wilona has left Sandra and fled from the battle! This is a brave and merciless action to take. With her quick skills, Wilona has managed to secure a surviving chance for them!"
'That's correct, commentary host. I'm not some merciless, backstabbing, betrayer. But a person with a plan that just happened to involves sacrificing her partner.'
So around the whole map, the greatest game of virtual tag was displayed. If Avina was going through walls, the enemies were parkouring over it. If Avina was running through bushes, the enemies were attacking said innocent bush. If Avina was attacking them, then it was a bad choice because they were attacking her with twice the force!
"How much longer until you're alive!" Avina asked Sandra in the most panic-stricken way. She didn't know how much longer she could escape!
"Just 1 more second! And- Done! Okay, I'm going towards you right now."
"Be careful," Avina reminded Sandra. Sandra nodded and moved her character along.
"And player Sandra has revived! The duo are back in the game!" the host looked over to Sandra's PC and announced.
Tom and Roger looked to our side and squinted. With 1 nod, the two stopped the grand chase. Everyone knew the best way to win was to gather the tokens, and both sides were equal.
"Quick! Find a token! We just need a token each!" Avina shouted at Sandra. How could the other side not have the same idea! They had the same one, and it was a race for the last tokens!
'Host! I did it! I also sent a virus to the hacker's computer, so they should be preoccupied until the shooting is over -especially if they prioritize what's on their computer. Now I can help you!' 5025 told her.
'Then help me find a token! Or add one in a bush or something,'
With a quick click of the system magic button, a shiny token appeared in the bush. Avina rushed towards it, collected it, and she was done! All that was needed was for Sandra to find one!
"Go, Sandra!" Avina turned to Sandra and cheered. "I found mine!"
Sandra circled around the corner and saw a beautiful token. But at the same time, Tom and Roger came around the corner as well.
Tom and Roger were in the same situation. Roger only needed 1 more token for them to win. And now, there was 1 right in front of them, but Sandra was also there.
Both sides stared at each other for one second before running towards the token. Tom started to launch his attacks at Sandra, but Sandra continued rushing in. At the last HP, Sandra clicked on the token, and a loud horn sounded off.
Confetti fell from the sky and loud music was played. They had won! Avina and Sandra stood up, screamed, and hugged each other.
"We won! We won!!" Sandra shouted.
Avina screamed and shouted back, "All because of you! That was so brave!"
"Wow! What an amazing game!" The host walked over with his microphone. "Sandra was at her last HP risking her life for that token! With just one more attack or a misclick, Tom and Roger would have won!"
"How do you feel?" the host held his microphone to us and asked.
"Absolutely amazing! I can't believe I did that! I just- I just don't know what to say," Sandra, delighted, said. Her entire body glowed in an exuberant glow expressing her excitement.
The host laughed at the lively Sandra. Sandra had a common reputation for being cold. Well, that's not an accurate word. She was nice, but her expressions hardly varied other than a polite smile. Now, because of the incredible feat, she had the most expressions he had ever seen!
And they won!! Anyone remember the dinner bet? Thank you for reading! :)
