Before his transmigration, Atreus often thought that the writers of Marvel and DC were crazy, constantly creating wildly conflicting versions of the same hero.
After transmigrating, Atreus suddenly had a bit of clarity. Perhaps the different parallel worlds had different environments, leading these writers, after glimpsing the 'future' of another world in their dreams, to be inspired and come up with such stories.
According to 'history,' Atreus was absolutely sure that there was no concept of this so-called restraint. The zombie universe had been turned into a closed loop by the **Watcher**, locked in an infinite cycle within a specific timeframe. However, the suffering was limited to just two universes, while the other universes were spared.
It's not wrong to say those two universes were completely wiped out.
But now, it was clear that the zombie heroes had leaked into the universe where Atreus was!
The only consolation was that the spillover seemed minimal for now, and there might still be a chance to turn things around.
As a crimson ball of light flew from a familiar figure engulfed in flames and into Atreus's chest, the system notifications on his retina continued to flood the screen:
**[Congratulations to the host for successfully destroying Zombie Hero White Canary, Sara Lance. The host has successfully devoured and purified the target's soul.]**
**[Congratulations, the host has gained the following base attribute upgrades: Constitution +5, Strength +3, Willpower +3.]**
**[Host's basic combat has risen to Lv14 (6+8).]**
**[Since the host is Royal descent, you have gained a branch skill from the combat system (Martial Arts): ?????]**
It was clear that the zombie version of White Canary Atreus had killed was the villainous one. She had received training from **Master Huang** , becoming a martial arts expert.
Unfortunately, after turning into a zombie, her attributes changed drastically. Her movements had become noticeably sluggish, replaced by a significant increase in health and strength.
Through the kill, Atreus's base attributes had once again significantly increased to: **Constitution 18, Agility 23, Strength 21, Intelligence 15, Perception 17, Willpower 24.**
Glancing at the data, Atreus felt that he was still far from a demigod-level hero like Wonder Woman, but maybe he could now hold his own against Captain America.
"Ah!" Atreus exhaled deeply and murmured to himself, "Maybe it's time to harvest some mini-bosses!"
Over on the clearing, the Lance sisters looked at each other seriously.
"Sara, how did you come across that thing?"
"Big sis, I really don't know. I had just gotten home from work when I saw it standing on my window sill, right behind the curtain. Judging by its figure, I thought it was you trying to surprise me. I ran for my life and barely escaped," Sara's voice still trembled slightly.
Dinah sighed and helped her sister to her feet, walking toward Atreus. "Boss! Do you know anything?"
Atreus replied solemnly, "This is Gotham City!"
The two sisters immediately stiffened, realization dawning on them.
What follows after "Gotham, where people live simple lives"?
"Arkham, where talent abounds!"
Gotham residents hadn't forgotten the recent chaos caused by **Joker**. First, he made it rain money, attracting innocent crowds with wads of cash during a citywide parade, only to reveal that he planned to poison the entire city with laughing gas hidden in giant balloons.
The sisters still had vivid memories of the corpses from the news and TV, their faces frozen in terror and agony but grinning unnaturally.
Who knew if these zombies were the result of some mad scientist, well-versed in chemistry or biology?
Dinah gripped her sister's shoulder tightly. "Is there anything important left in your house?"
Sara shook her head.
Dinah pursed her lips, pulling Sara closer to Atreus. "Boss, if possible, could you take my sister in for a while? She's homeless now."
Sara nodded vigorously, full of pleading.
Atreus looked at the sisters, whose physiques were similar yet each had their own allure. With a playful smile, he said, "My house is pretty big!"
This immediately reminded Sara of the promise she made over the phone when she was calling for help. Her smile froze.
Thankfully, Atreus's next words were, "Coincidentally, my butler Frank just resigned. Sara, you can be my butler for now."
"Sure..." Sara agreed.
Dinah secretly whispered to her sister, "Don't worry, Atreus isn't the type to fool around."
"Uh..."
That's debatable.
Isn't this 'impart'? It's clearly a trap, right?
Sara couldn't shake the feeling that she had just escaped from one predator only to land in the jaws of another. Either way, she was doomed. The only difference might be between being moderately doomed and utterly doomed.
The three of them returned to the helicopter parked on the open ground. The pilot was tense but didn't dare leave.
Sensing something, Louis didn't even wait for Atreus's signal before pulling out a stack of cash and stuffing it into the pilot's hands.
"You either saw nothing, or you'll never see anything again. Remember, not even Batman can save you."
Louis' bluff clearly had a strong effect. The pilot had witnessed Atreus jump from six or seven stories high and return without a scratch.
On the way home, Atreus felt a bit worried.
This rescue operation had too many flaws. Theoretically, Gotham was filled with Batman's surveillance cameras, and if he was watching, the whole thing would probably be exposed.
Even though Atreus had preemptively set the system to block the surrounding surveillance and received no warnings, he still felt uneasy.
Sitting in the helicopter, Atreus could see several places in the DC district engulfed in flames.
Through the mic, Black Canary said, "Since **Black Mask** died, nearly every g4ng has risen up to seize the territory he once controlled. **Falcone**, **Maroni**, **Hush**... There are even rumors that ** Joker** has escaped from Arkham Asylum and is reuniting his g4ng. Gotham is going to be chaotic for a while."
Joker escaped?
Is this a g4ngland all-star brawl?
The g4ngs in Gotham were like weeds — cut them down, and they'd just grow back. It felt like they could never be fully wiped out.
As the protector of Gotham, Atreus both respected and was sometimes frustrated by Batman. His greatest strength was his refusal to kill, but that was also his greatest weakness. Most of the villains Batman caught ended up in Arkham Asylum.
How many times had people escaped from that asylum throughout DC's history?
For a madman like Joker, who could never be contained and would go on a killing spree every time he got out, Atreus believed the kindest thing to do for innocent civilians was to end his life, not give him a pointless hundredth life sentence.
However, after tonight's zombie hero incident, Atreus was a bit less concerned about Gotham's g4ngs.
"Oh? Really? Looks like Mr. Batman is going to be quite busy."
Atreus was right.
People, whether civilians or heroes, only had so much attention to give. When something 'big' happened, it was easy to overlook smaller things.
Upon hearing that Joker, who once attempted to poison the entire city, had escaped, the overwhelmed Batman didn't even notice the small scuffle at an abandoned warehouse near the docks.
Burning a zombie Sara Lance, who didn't even have an official Gotham address — what did that matter?
Joker just robbed a bank!
That's front-page news!
On Batman's to-do list, **developing countermeasures for potential weaknesses in Iron Man** ranked higher than monitoring Atreus's activities. After all, Atreus's priority was only ranked E.
As for Atreus's decision to spend thirty grand to charter a helicopter, Batman's butler, Alfred, simply smiled knowingly when he saw the report on Sara Lance.
Wasn't this just a pre-breakup payment? Classic Wayne behavior.
Cleaning up after Wayne was, after all, his main job as a butler.
In the report, beside Sara Lance's picture, Alfred had written in bold: **Thirty Thousand**.
Ahem, if White Canary knew about this, would she kill the butler?
Luckily, Atreus didn't see the report, or he would've felt wronged: "I'm not that kind of person!"
