Jack and the Krakoan X-Men team stayed in Eden for the next few days. Jack wanted to catch Xavier by surprise and confront him before the entire school. He was going to bring the old man down.
But he also knew he had to give Xavier a fair trial.
Even if the students and staff were already biased toward Xavier, if Jack arrived early, Xavier would have an out by saying Jack had manipulated the crowd in his favor. Jack didn't even inform his family for fear of Xavier using that against him.
'Politics. Literally, the worst thing I learned from Emma. Some days, I wish I was back in Limbo where it was simply survival of the fittest and I didn't have to care about anyone else's opinions or lives.'
5 days after he found the Krakoan X-Men team, Xavier had a meeting with Magneto which he could not miss. So the moment he returned from the meeting or even during the meeting was the best time to strike. And that was exactly where Jack had struck.
"Good. I don't need to drag your broken legs outside the mansion!"
Magneto was walking out of the mansion with his close circle as well as Xavier and several of the X-Men when they heard Jack's shout.
Jack's shout also got the attention of many of the students and staff that were inside of the mansion or around the edges. Most of them rushed to the noise to see what was going on.
All of them turned up to see Jack floating down with 4 individuals that none of them recognized but were wearing damaged X-Men uniforms. No. That was a lie. One person recognized them.
'It can't be. I thought that the island...'
Vulcan and the others saw the shock in Xavier's eyes. Vulcan was about to make a move when he heard Jack's voice in his head.
{Calm down, Gabriel. Do not let your emotions cause you to be the villain today.}
Gabriel took a few deep breaths before he was able to calm down. He knew that Jack was right. He was unknown while Xavier was their leader. It was obvious whose side the others would take if a fight broke out.
Jack didn't forcefully calm the other young man down using his powers but simply talked with him. He knew that he couldn't control Gabriel without extreme backlash later down the line. Without becoming like Xavier.
Trying to control those under him with his powers would always have the chance of biting him in the ass. Just like what was about to happen to Xavier.
"You recognize these four around me, don't you Charles?" Jack asked with a teasing smile after a large enough crowd gathered. "Or maybe you recognize them, Scott."
Xavier tried to compose himself but those who were closest to him could tell that something was off. That he was off. He was confused and frightened.
Scott was different. His facial expressions showed nothing but confusion and caution. But unlike Xavier, there was no fear.
"Jack. Let's take this conversation inside. This isn't a suitable environment," Xavier tried to get Jack to not make this conversation so public
But Jack wasn't going to go along with it.
"I think we are fine right here. Now answer me, Charles. Do you recognize these 4? I know they may have aged a little but I'm sure that they look very familiar to you."
{Jack. Must you really do this?} Xavier tried to ask Jack telepathically but Jack had come completely prepared. He had set up his telepathic defenses already and with Emma's level of power, Charles wouldn't be able to penetrate his mind.
Sensing the change in Jack's strength, Xavier frowned. He knew that Jack would not let him off so he had to minimize the damage.
"Yes, they do. Gabriel, Armando, Petra, Suzanne. It has been a long time coming."
"What has been a long time, Xavier? Why don't you explain it to everyone so they don't think I'm accusing you of something lighter or heavier than what you truly did?" Jack questioned
"*sigh* These 4 were X-Men sent to rescue the original team of X-Men from a living island. I was led to believe that they died on the mission due to the circumstances."
"Really? That's what happened?"
Jack reached into the minds of everyone present, except Magneto because of a certain helmet, and showed them all the memories he had gained. The ones from Krakoa and from the 4.
Some of the younger or foolishly loyal to Xavier could not believe or understand what they saw but many of the older and more intelligent members of the staff and students caught onto what happened and filled the gaps.
The most surprised were Scott and Alex Summers. They kept looking between Jack, Xavier, and their youngest brother. And both of them had the same reaction.
"Agh!" "Bastard!"
Scott took off his sunglasses while Alex raised his hands as he began to quickly gather energy. Before either of them could actually harm the professor, they were quickly subdued. Their reactions brought everyone back to reality.
"Professor... tell us it isn't true," Hank (Beast) pleaded
Xavier shook his head. There was no way he could deny it any longer. If it was kept hidden, he would not have to mention it. But once it was brought to light, Xavier had no way to deny it. Especially with both of the victims in front of him.
"I'm confronting in front of all of you to put him on trial!" Jack shouted toward everyone else. "He tricked 4 children, sent them on a mission that would have certainly ended in their death, abandoned them on the island, and erased the memories of the 4 of them from any witness to cover up his acts! What shall we do with him?"
Jack sent out a telepathic poll where everyone could vote in real-time and see the results themselves. He wanted each of the mutants present to have an opinion on what would happen to the Professor. Their choices were:
1. Forgive him
2. Forgive him but remove him as the leader of the X-Men and Headmaster
3. Remove him as the leader of the X-Men and Headmaster
4. Remove him as the leader of the X-Men and Headmaster but also give him some other punishment
The results were quick. Many of the people present already knew what they wanted to vote in their hears and so they did. Of the 430 students and staff, this was how the vote ended up.
1. Forgive him: 27 Votes
2. Forgive him but remove him as the leader of the X-Men and Headmaster: 73 Votes
3. Remove him as the leader of the X-Men and Headmaster: 279 Votes
4. Remove him as the leader of the X-Men and Headmaster but also give him some other punishment: 51 Votes
"Professor, the results are out. Will you abide by them or will you refuse? We are unable to force you to truly quit if you do not wish to," Jack said honestly
"Why, Jack? Do you want to take over? Is that what your pride is demanding? That you can't be ordered around by me so you want to take over the school and the X-Men?" Xavier asked truly confused
"Simple. There needs to be punishment when someone does something wrong. Nothing more, nothing less. So make your choice, Charles."
Xavier looked at Jack with both respect and hatred. All that he had built up. The belief that he had gotten from all the students, Jack had taken it all away. It would be a lie to say that he did not hate him.
But he hated himself more. Because it was directly due to his own actions that this happened to him.
'Karma. It seems that it has truly come for me.'
Xavier steeled his resolve.
"I will follow the voice of the people and step down. Magneto, is there room for me on Genosha?"
Although they had not asked him to leave, Xavier went ahead with requesting for Magneto to put up with him. If he were to stay at the institute after being removed as its headmaster, that would just be shameless on his part.
"Always, old friend," he replied
And with that, the institute would undergo a change in leadership
