The rising sun over the horizon painted the sky bright orange. It was as if the sky was set on fire. The once lush green grass was dyed crimson red, without a hint of the original color. The sparkling blue lake became a thick dark liquid with floating bodies instead of lily pads.
On the vast battlefield, there were piles and piles of bodies on top of each other. It was hard to tell whether the cold, lifeless body was once a friend or foe. But nobody cares, they were raging with madness in attempting to slay the other side in the name of revenge. There was only one word to describe this nightmare, hell.
Even with all the chaos going on, one person stood out from the rest. He had cold piercing sapphire eyes and midnight black hair. His armor is darker than the night sky, and in his hand, he held onto a sword resembling the color of his eyes. Each time his sword glowed, another person is slain by his hands. Anyone who feared him said his name was the God of Hell. Anyone who loved him respectfully calls him by his title, Prince Zhang Jian, the God of War.
This God of War was slaughtering anyone who stood in his pathway. They were preventing him from reaching the person he has been yearning to for. A second ago, Zhang Jian thought he saw her. Maybe he was hallucinating from the lack of sleep or missing her way too much. But it doesn't matter! He must check at all costs!
Zhang Jian took down another charging soldier coming at him. Meanwhile, telling himself, she couldn't be here when she is confined away. He was the person who put her in there and was the one who sealed her inside. No one can break the seal that he personally created.
Not even her, the one who was once known to be the God of Death.
Zhang Jian's blood ran cold when he saw what he wanted and did not want to see standing there. She really is here and has been here since the start of the war. She stood tall and proud, even with the killing taking place next to her. Her entire body was covered in a white and silver armor protecting her from harm. Although it was hard to tell that the armor was once the color of white and not dark red.
His eyes traveled down to the silver sword held in her hand and had blood dripping out from the other side. Eternal Cry of Souls is the name of her sword. Enteral was pierced into one of the dark creatures, killing it in an instant. She delivered the final blow, causing the dark creature to vaporize into thin air without a trace.
They were creatures you couldn't touch with just any kind of weapon. It needed to have white light property to kill them, or the person has to have it. It's just that the woman standing in front was full of white light property. If not for her, they will be on the losing end of the battle, to begin with.
"Xueying!" Zhang Jian shouted, trying to overpower the noise going on around them.
Yue Xueying didn't react but kept facing the battle in front of her. Her hand that was holding her precious sword went limp, dropping Enteral on the dirty ground. Then slowly, her body fell backward.
"Xueying!" Zhang Jian screamed for her, forcing his pair of black wings to appear on his back. It gave him a speed boost towards her and catching her frail body in time. Holding onto Yue Xueying tightly, he said, "You're safe now, I'm here."
Yue Xueying laid in his arms and wrapped her arms around Zhang Jian. This was what she needed. She felt safe and warm. She missed him, missed his hugs, missed his chest, and missed his presence.
"Why are you crying, silly girl? I'm here now, aren't I?" Zhang Jian wiped away the tears from her big rounded eyes.
"I'm thousands of years older than you," Yue Xueying smiled, touching his worn-out face from the harsh battle. It's been hard on him as it been on her making the right choice.
"It's almost over..." Zhang Jian hugged her tightly in his embrace. She must be tired of the endless battle. That's why she fell down. He was only overthinking what he thought he had seen.
Yue Xueying swallowed her tears and nodded her head, "It's almost over."
The way she said it grabbed Zhang Jian's attention. Quickly, he grabbed her wrist and felt her pulse that was slowing way down.
"W-what did you do?" Zhang Jian stuttered, asking for the truth but afraid to hear it.
Yue Xueying closed her eyes, and the tears she held back fell out. Sadly, she didn't even have the strength anymore to resist when Zhang Jian grabbed her wrist. If she had a choice, she wouldn't want him to take notice of the change.
"I…" Yue Xueying weakly replied, trying to explain herself but coughed out blood instead. She bit down on her bloody bottom lip, stopping herself from coughing up more blood. She could feel Zhang Jian, who was once the cold-hearted prince trembling with fear of losing her. "I did something I should have done a thousand years ago."
"No!" Zhang Jian denied the reality of what was happening in front of him. "I won't let anything happen to you. I'll-"
Yue Xueying tugged onto his arm and shook her head. She doesn't have much time left, "It's no use. I-I want to stay like this until my last breath."
Zhang Jian shook his head and then nodded his head like an obedient child. He knew. This was really it between them.
"If there is a next life, I would choose to fall in love with you again." Yue Xueying faintly whispered, using her each and every precious breath she had left.
"Mn." Zhang Jian nodded again, holding her hand against his lips. "No matter how many lifetimes, I only want to be with you."
Warm droplets of water dropped on Yue Xueying's face. She wanted to reach out her hand and wipe those tears away. She was hurt that she won't get to stay with him, but she was more hurt when he was hurting because of her. She doesn't want him to feel sad that she's leaving him. She wanted to open her mouth and tell him to continue living and move on. But in the end, she didn't say or do any of those things.
Instead of saying any of those things, she had something much more important to tell him. In the faintest voice, "I... I... Lov-"
Yue Xueying's small hand let loose of Zhang Jian for a second before he grabbed back on. His shoulders tremble, looking at her eyes shut closed and a sad smile on her face, unwilling to part the world. Gently, he wrapped his hand around her body as if shielding her from all harm. In his arms, he rocked her like she was a baby he was comforting to sleep.
"I love you too," Zhang Jian gave her one last kiss on her lips. "Always."
A faint yellow light glowed around her body, slowly yet quickly, it began to destroy her body. Turning her body into beautiful golden ashes that dance upward into the sky.
Zhang Jian caught what was left of the golden ashes in his hands, "I will wait for you. Even if it's another thousand years."
"Cut!" Director Hu shouted and turned towards Xiong Jingfei, who sat next to him. "So, how was it? Are you satisfied?"
It was beautiful. Xiong Jingfei wiped away her tears then wrote on her tablet, 'They were perfect!'
Even though no wings came out from behind Wu Yuan's back, who played Zhang Jian or golden ashes flying with the wind. Xiong Jingfei imagined all the CGI that should have been put, and she knew the finishing piece would be perfect. The most significant part was that she felt the love between Zhang Jian and Yue Xueying.
Besides Xiong Jingfei, Yang Zheyan watched the same scene as her and felt the same emotions.
"Director Hu, can you replay one of the scenes again for me?" Yang Zheyan asked after Xiong Jingfei left him to go congrats, Wu Yuan.
"Of course!" Director Hu immediately replayed the last scene where Yue Xueying passed away.
He can understand why Xiong Jingfei insisted on being on set for this scene. Although, he doesn't understand why someone like him would feel moved by something like this. Maybe it had to do with that weird dream he had been talking about lifetimes.
Then he scowled, recalling how he was woken up this morning. Xiong Jingfei gave him a lovely morning wake up call by kicking him right out of bed. She began to throw things at him and was pointing to the couch. Pretty much saying why was he sleeping next to her.
"I'll see if she dares toss me out of bed after we are married," Yang Zheyan mumbled, crossing his arms and sat back to rewatch the scenes again.
