Durable Empowered Series

“Keith and I watched in awe and joy as the inexplicable happened. Nikki was alive! My mate was back! Then suddenly, those brown eyes I loved so much started morphing. Her right eye lightened and became as golden as mine after I shifted into my wolf. While her left eye deepened and became black before turning blood red like Keith’s right before he feeds. It was unfeasible but there she laid a vampire-werewolf hybrid.” Nicolette Winspere always felt out of step with the world around her and for good reasons. She is a genetically engineered vampire-werewolf hybrid but she has no idea! Created as the ultimate weapon, Nicolette is a timid African American woman caught in the middle of a deadly war between humans and non-humans. The humans want her to destroy their natural enemies the vampires and werewolves; while her creator wants to use her to avenge an over 2 millennia-year old slight. After narrowly escaping the clutches of her “parents”, she begins a new life with no intentions of looking back. However, after 5 years of freedom, her hybrid genes start attacking her human ones forcing her to do the one thing she swore never to do…return to where it all began. Upon her arrival home, Nicolette finds herself in a desperate fight to keep her life, her freedom, and her humanity all while dealing with the unexpected re-appearance of an old flame. Truths will come to light, the inexplicable will happen, and monsters will be birthed!

The Truth is Revealed

New York

Josiah was sitting in front of a P.O.A.H computer. He had hacked into their database. Hopefully, he hadn't tripped any alarms. He had flown to New York late last night intent on finding out what made Nikki so crucial to the organization. What he found had left him dumbfounded.

Nikki wasn't human at all! In fact, she was a biogenetically engineered vampire-werewolf hybrid that had been implanted into Sue-Ann Winspere. If he hadn't seen the numerous case files of past and ongoing experiments with his own eyes, he wouldn't have believed it; but here it was, all laid out for him.

It didn't make any sense though. Yeah, there were several humans, mostly scientists, who knew about the supernatural race but there was no way they knew enough to make a successful human clone. Never mind being able to create a complex creature like Nikki from scratch!

His detective instincts hummed, something was wrong! No human could run this company successfully. It had to be a supernatural, and if he was right, it was a vampire!

During his last meeting with the 4 seated Councilmen, he had noticed some odd behavior. It was only now that he was looking at the information in front of him that he figured it out.

The men were under a powerful mezmur. A mezmur was what a vampire used to hypnotize other beings and turn them into puppets. Very few vampires could do this. If memory served him right, only those a millennia and older could do it.

He had to find out who was behind this. With a quick click, he copied all the files to a thumb drive and continued searching through the mainframe computer. He was determined to find out who was really behind P.O.A.H. He had to figure out what they were planning by creating a being like Nikki. Did they purposefully make her his mate? Were they after the Werewolves?

He was digging deeper into the organizational files, when there was a sudden, quick, flicker of light. The computer's camera had been activated! Josiah swore, swiftly detached the thumb drive, and

scuttled out of the room.

His digging seemed to have tripped some type of alarm. Whoever was behind P.O.A.H did not want to be found. Chances are he had just painted a giant target on his back.

Moss-colored eyes gleamed in the dark as it stared at the photo of the young wolf who had often been used to get rid of his enemies. It seemed that he had slipped up somewhere and now he was being investigated. It didn't matter though; his treasure was almost in his grasp. As for Josiah Walker, his usefulness had come to an end.

Back In Boston

When we found Nikki, she was in a stall, unconscious. Mrs. Winspere and I managed to get her in the elevator and into their car with little commotion. I hopped into the car and could tell that Mr. Winspere wanted to stop me but his wife gave an almost imperceptible shake of her head. He jumped in and stepped on the gas.

Luckily, or so they claimed, we were close to their lab. We arrived within minutes and once we were inside they plugged her up to so many machines that my head spun.

While medicine was not my forte, I recognized a few of the instruments and, thankfully, the rest didn't look as though they were too dangerous.
