Chapter 5 - Daiyu Is The Best!

Her legs trembling, she couldn't get her body to move and walk out of the room.

"Hey you! Break-room is closed off for visitors, Did you not get the message from the staff?", Yin yelled at the trembling Mei.

"I...I was just leaving." she stammered while keeping the wine glass back but was interrupted by Daiyu.

"Do finish your drink before, I would feel bad if you would have to leave mid-way." she consoled her and picked up the glass back, a faint smile forming on her lips as she tipped it over on Mei's white dress.

"Oh no, I am so sorry, Let me....."

Appalled, Mei ran out, not wanting to stay another second with Daiyu, she pushed herself from the crowd and stood out in the corridor.

She looked down at herself and clenched the dress in her fists, the red color staining the pure white cloth.

Wandering around for some minutes, she finally found the bathroom and aggressively tried rubbing off the pigmented blotch that spread around her dress.

"I'll just borrow something from Lien." she thought, after stepping back out.

When she looked at her surroundings, she couldn't understand which way she had to go or where she came from.

Mei walked all over the place in haste, searching for Lien Hua when she was approached by a familiar face that she did not seem to recognize.

"Do you need some help Ma'am?"

The lady introduced herself as Chun and politely asked if she needed any help to which Mei gratefully replied yes.

"Please, I can't seem to find my friends green room anywhere." Mei panicked, "I was supposed to meet her fifteen minutes ago. I'm a bit worried that her shoot has already started some time ago and that she would be waiting for me."

"Oh do you mean Miss Lien Hua? Her scene has already started Ma'am, Should I lead you there? I am one of the staff members so I know the way around the set." Chun consoled her, smiling.

"That would be really helpful, Thank you very much." Mei replied graciously.

"If you would like, I could happily offer some of my clothes as I see you have had a slight accident." She said, pointing down to her stained dress.

"It's okay, I can just borrow something from my friend. I'm sure she has some spare clothes in her room." Mei reassured the lady.

Chun frowned for a brief moment but changed her expression immediately making it impossible for Mei to notice anything wrong.

"No problem, let me lead you to her room then." Chun accompanied her, cheerfully chattering, taking her to a room near the shoot.

Thinking it was Lien's green room, Mei walked in without a second thought, only to be greeted by Daiyu seated in front of a large dressing table with her legs crossed and her hands on her lap, intently looking at herself in the mirror.

When she saw Mei's reflection, she turned back and her innocent look instantly turned into a malicious gaze. Her light hazel eyes stared daggers at her as Mei apologized and turned back to leave, to see that Chun had closed and locked the door behind her. She suddenly was reminded of why she had found Chun familiar as she realized she was none other than Daiyu's personal assistant.

She heard Daiyu's voice next to her, whispering in her ear with a shrill tone, "Fancy seeing you here."

Shivers down her spine, Mei's frail body heaving, she murmured softly,

"I'm just looking for the shoot. Let's not create any needless drama now. I know you feed on fear considering your true identity is a banshee."

Daiyu snickered, ushering Chun to unlock the door and stand next to her, pointing her finger by the side.

"You shouldn't have shown up here." she scorned while suppressing back the laughter within, her eyes and face transitioning into a neutral blank expression.

"What's with that villainess monotone?"

Ignoring Mei, she tilted her face to the side and snapped her fingers when suddenly Chun started screeching on the top of her lungs while Daiyu looked at Mei with a vile smile and slapped herself.

Mei froze in terror as she pulled her to her side and started tearing up.

In a matter of minutes, her room was crowded with Director Zhang, Ah Lam, and the producers along with some of the major actors starring in the movie.

They saw Daiyu kneeling on the ground, her hands across her face with Chun next to her while she cried out," Please stop hurting us!" as Mei stood in front of them, unaware of the trap she had fallen into.

"What in the..."

Zhang yelled out to get first aid and barked at Mei, "Who are you? Who permitted you to come inside? GET SECURITY!"

Ah Lam ran out to get Daiyu and Chun some water while an amount of paparazzi showed up when they heard the loud commotion and slipped in.

Sounds of loud flashes and howls filled the air as everyone blamed Mei and pitied for Daiyu.

Trying to form a sentence, Mei stuttered, however, was silenced by Zhang.

The security guards pushed their way in as they tried to violently escort Mei out.

Daiyu cried out," Please no! Stop! Forgive her! It wasn't her fault! I was the one who accidentally dropped some wine on her dress. She didn't do anything wrong by slapping me as I deserved it. Please let her go!"

According to her plans, the crowd went ballistic at Mei and started hollering while they chanted out sentences,

"It was not your fault Daiyu!"

"You are the kindest ever!"

"Daiyu is the best!"

After Ah Lam bought them water, she looked over at Mei as she sipped from the glass with her tear-stained face and grinned softly.
