When Becket saw Basil Jaak's hole cards were a club Queen, his knees went weak and he plopped down onto the chair, a slight twitch at the corner of his lips. He had intended to use the gambling game to make things difficult for Jaak, but it ironically backfired. He lost over a million dollars in the first round!
"Mr. Jaak, you've won this round. Please collect your chips." The female dealer began pushing chips in Jaak's direction as she spoke, politely.
"Thank you." Basil Jaak nodded his acknowledgement, then pushed a portion of the borrowed chips towards Jerome, saying, "Regardless of your intentions, I need to thank you."
"Not at all." Jerome responded casually. His face remained adorned with a thin smile; however, his thoughts could only be his own mystery.
"Basil, it's good that you won," Jessica Flack breathed a sigh of relief.
"Were you worried about me?" Jaak asked with a mischievous smile, his gaze sweeping over Jessica.
