“You don’t have to do this,” Marcell harshly whispered to me as I hastily walked down the hallway to my uncle’s office once more.

“I told you, Marcell, this is the only way that I can protect her,” I insisted.

“Stop it.” Marcell reached out grabbing my arm. “Just stop it for one d*mn minute.”

“I’ve screwed everything up, Marcell,” I said unable to meet my cousin's intense gaze. “There’s no other option. We’re out of time.”

“You can’t lose hope, Diego. Not you. I can. But you can’t. That’s not how these things work,” Marcell pleaded with me.
