Beneath Her Skin

Why did it happen? What went wrong ? Weren't they just playing 'guess the dessert' game? Orion didn't understand, ever since a certain incident in high school, he had always been careful with who he associated with, how he talked to them, paid attention to what he ate, who prepared it and all sorts of cautions.

Being the sole heir of the Wellington's bakery corporation, he knew a lot of people would be out there to get him, especially his relatives. He had to be extra cautious and protect his life always, that's why he tried so hard to make no enemies ....So why ? Why was it that when he finally let down his guard for once did this finally happen? He had personally witnessed one of his friends eating the same piece of bread and he was fine, how come when he tried it he was suddenly choking on it ?

His blood shot eyes looked at the people present, memorizing their faces, they were all his most trusted friends and coworkers...so why was no one helping him in his most desperate moment ? And they were even... laughing ? Curse them all!

Still in his moment of confusion, desperate to survive, he subconsciously reached out his hand to call for help but no word came out of his mouth, his throat felt clogged, his vision slowly turning blurry. Only when he finally fell on his back did one of the men present approach him and snap out of it after noticing his purplish face.

"Holy sh*t! It's real! He's freaking choking you guys!"

Only then did everyone else stop laughing and gather around him, shaking his body, calling out to him and running around frantically, but it was too late.

The already suffocated Orion wanted to die from anger at that moment, not like he wasn't already dying, but their actions accelerated the process even more and wasted his last torturous seconds that he could have used to inwardly curse them some more.

Why were they just running around like headless chickens? Didn't anyone of them not know what to do when someone was choking?

Unless...it was all planned!

'Bastards! All of you! I'll remember you all and haunt you for the rest of your lives!!' he screamed inwardly and died a moment later.

His face looked eerie with his blood shot open eyes, blackish face and protruding veins that looked like they were about to pop but gradually started receding, the shine in his eyes dimmed and his pupils finally relaxed, showing no more signs of life. Orion was dead.

Many news outlets blew the media with such news causing a storm in country M, not because the righteous citizens were concerned about the death of such a good looking second rich generation heir, half of the country didn't even know him despite being from a second tier wealthy family. What interested the netizens was the cause of his death, the forensic doctors had yet to release the autopsy results to determine the nature of his death but it seemed like the whole country had already unanimously agreed that it was not murder.

"...i mean l wouldn't even cause such an embarrassing death for my worst enemy! It can't be murder, poor dude was probably too excited and ended up choking" one guy commented on an online forum

"This is the most hilarious death of the century!" Someone commented

"RIP prince baker, eat slowly in your next life" another commented

"A baker dies from choking on a piece of bread? Hah! The irony!"

So many comments kept on flooding the internet every second making it difficult to control the mocking comments, the more Magnus saw the grimer his expression became. Eventually he couldn't take it anymore and flung his phone so hard it completely obliterated upon crashing into the wall, scaring a boy who had been standing near the exact wall.

"ORION! Even in your death, you couldn't even save me some face!" Magnus roared angrily causing the boy to flinch momentarily.

Magnus angrily stomped his feet, rushing to his study room while calling out the servants to go clean up the mess.

"Get out of my way boy!" Even in his anger he gently shoved the boy away.

The boy still fell down despite being gently pushed away, as he knelt there , he stared at the huge TV in confusion.

"Brother...is gone ?" He said slowly and softly,

his confusion gradually changed to sadness.

Despite being around the age of 18, the boy's thoughts were slow to process the news, unable to resist, he quietly curled up and sobbed softly, making the surrounding servants' hearts ache slightly.

Who in their mansion didn't know that this young master had a terrible fever when he was just 9 years old, it was not a secret that the once clever child became dumb after that. As servants, they dared not to talk about it so openly and were always very patient with him, after all when their eldest young master was alive he doted on his younger brother very much and never allowed him to suffer a loss.

Alas, now that the eldest young master is gone, the poor lad will probably have a hard time adjusting to the cruelty of the world.

Some servants who had always been suppressed by Orion before were already starting to look at Drew disdainfully but they did not dare do anything to him. After all, even though he was not the favoured son, his father still treated him gently despite his open displeasure towards Drew.

His brother might be gone but life must still go on, he might be slow in the head but Drew still understood that concept.

Getting up from the cold floor, he wiped his tears and went back to his room under the watchful stares of the servants.
