Chapter 8: T Virus II

[Subject: Global Crisis Alert

Dear Citizens of the World,

We mourn to inform you that the world is facing a global crisis that could lead to the ending of humanity as we know it. The situation poses deadly risks to the entire world and requires immediate attention and action from all individuals, communities, and governments...

Key information regarding the global crisis:

Virus Name: Zombie Virus

Transmission: The virus spreads through respiratory droplets and violent Direct Contact with infected individuals(Scratches, bites, etc..) Possibly Vector-Borne Transmission, and Fecal-Oral Route.

Symptoms: Common symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, and body aches, cognitive dissonance, irrational behavior, all before finally turning into a zombie.

Severity: Possibility of global annihilation.

Global Spread: The virus has been detected in every country across all continents, indicating across-the-board transmission. No place will be safe.

Prevention Measures: Do not leave your homes. Hide, and stay away from cities. Do not come in contact with zombies unless necessary.

Travel Restrictions: No International travel is allowed. Domestic travel is allowed only if necessary.

Recommended actions for all individuals:

Stay Informed: Follow official updates from your respective governments, the World Health Organization (WHO), and trusted news sources.

Avoid Non-Essential Travel: Minimize travel and follow travel advisories and restrictions in your area.

Seek Medical Care: If you experience symptoms or suspect exposure to the virus, contact local healthcare authorities for guidance.

If you are a holder of special abilities, please contact the number written below... The safety of the World relies on you.

Governments and organizations worldwide are taking decisive actions to address the crisis:

Military Response: All of our militaries are being assembled and sent to stop the spread and provide safety for those in need.

Testing and Diagnosis: Testing capacity is being prepared to identify and isolate infected individuals promptly.

Research and Development: Scientists and researchers are working tirelessly to develop effective treatments, vaccines, and preventive measures.

Support Systems: Economic relief packages and support systems are being implemented to assist individuals and groups affected by the crisis.

This global warning is issued to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals. We must act collectively, follow guidelines, and support one another during these challenging times. Stay vigilant, stay safe, and together we can overcome this global crisis.

Sincerely,

Uni Global Union, World Health Organization (WHO), and International Health Agencies]

As expected of the assembly of numerous countries, their response was fast, detailed, and straight to the point.

Then again, as Silver said before, while the crisis is certainly very dangerous, it's not hopeless yet, but he was sure that it's only a matter of time before it becomes hopeless, before Doomsday truly arrives.

His attention returned to research, starting with placing three vials before him, one with his blood, another with the blood of a blood cancer patient, and lastly, the blood of a healthy adult, all of which were well preserved.

He contemplated things in his mind for a bit before deciding to get a vial of basically dead blood, a not so preserved sample of clothed blood, his eyes shining in anticipation.

He started by slowly pouring only a little bit of the zombie blood into the vial of the healthy blood, then instantly put most of his focus on it, entering the microscopic field.

He silently watched for about an hour, without moving even a single bit. Everything else outside the lab was and will be taken care of by Natalia, including preparing a place for the researchers' families to live.

In fact, after clearing out his farmhouse of everything that was important, he left it for them to use however they want as he no longer needs sleep, so he could comfortably focus on his research.

"Hm?" He was soon surprised by the process of the virus' replication. The virus seemed to be decagonal, seeming mostly transparent but with a red hue to it.

And like most other viruses, it starts by attaching itself to the host cell, gaining entery by being engulfed into the cell through a process called endocytosis.

Once inside the host cell, the virus starts releasing its genetic material into the cell. The viral genetic material may be DNA or RNA, Silver wasn't sure.

Now, this is where things become strange, miraculous even. The virus' replication method was special. Normally, viruses hijack the cells to synthesize viral components, including proteins and genetic material, which come together to form new virus particles.

However, this virus replicates by cell division as it changes the cells' genome in some kind of way, causing the cells to divide extremely quickly, in about 10 minutes.

And the divided cells both have the virus within them, therefore, they'll continue to divide until they completely hijack the body. The infected cells even go as far as absorbing non-infected cells before taking their place.

Only sometimes do they release virus particles to infect other cells. They almost seemed aware, but like all things in the universe, they require energy to work.

It'd make sense then why zombies need to eat, but the question remains, what would happen if there was enough energy? Silver wasn't sure. He knows what would happen normally but this is not normal.

If the cells were to divide as quickly as every 10 minutes, it would have significant and potentially catastrophic consequences for the body. Such an accelerated rate of cell division would disrupt normal cellular processes and homeostasis, leading to a range of detrimental effects.

From Tissue Damage and Dysfunction, Impaired Cell Differentiation, Metabolic Imbalance, DNA Damage, and Genetic Instability, to Organ Failure and Systemic Disruption. How many of such issues will still happen with the added variable that's the virus?

Well, Silver seemed to have already thought of that, thus why he left Larry in hunger but fed the other zombie, and he will continue to do so.

'Yeah, I should study the zombies' brains after this, that should be an interesting experience,' He mused as he poured a tiny bit of the zombie blood into the vial the cancer blood.

Silver never looked more eager as he observe the changes, already expecting a miracle, the cure to cancer. No, the cure to all diseases, but only if the process can be controlled.

The virus particles attached themselves to the cells as before, and soon enough, they started multiplicating, the newer cells were clean without a sign of abnormality. Well, aside from the fact that they started absorbing the abnormal cells directly after only to release cleaner cells.

'This... So easy?' Despite expecting it, Silver was still speechless. All the cancerous cells were devoured, and taking their place were purer cells, well, as pure as they can be with the virus in them.

As before, the multiplication of the virus slowed down significantly due to the absence of necessary energy, and it continued to slow down.

It was finally time to test his own blood, will he be immune or at least resistant to the virus with his high endurance?

Strangely, his blood cells didn't resist the invasion of the viruses at all, but Silver still watched quietly as the cell multiplication started... And this is where seemingly his high endurance took effect.

The multiplication started slowing down, slowly but surely, much sooner than the other samples did which shouldn't be possible considering his cells should have much more energy.

Soon Silver understood why, his cells were resisting but in a different way than he imagine. They were regulating themselves, slowing down the division rate to preserve themselves.

They soon stabilized at one hour per division, and that should be what his endurance could handle without his body breaking down, 'A typical proliferating human cell divides on average every 24 h. This division timing allows cells to synchronize with other physiological processes and with the environment, but my cells can handle one division per hour?'

Silver stroked his chin, seeming thoughtful, 'It shouldn't be this easy. This almost feels like a trap. There must be something else to the virus, some danger I can not detect yet.'

He kept that in mind before turning his attention to the last vial, the one with the clothed blood, dead cells. Silver already knew what's gonna happen but he still wanted to see it for himself.

He poured a tiny bit of the virus into the vial and watched with interest as the virus did what it did best, attaching itself to the cells, to the dead cells.

How did the dead come back to life? Back in the cemeteries, how did the dead bodies basically revive? Their cells have long been dead, so how could they move?

Well, as he observed, it all comes down to the virus' seemingly most noteworthy trait is its ability to repair dead cells, able to reverse lysis in cells, and revive organisms dead for considerable lengths of time.

'Wait... Isn't this like the T Virus?' Silver narrowed his eyes, seeming in deep thought, 'When fiction becomes reality, huh...'
