Yue awoke to complete, suffocating darkness. Her head throbbed from where she'd been struck, and very pulse of her heart added to the sticky feeling in her hair
The inside of the bag was musty and humid, and Yue had to fight herself to keep from hyperventilating as she realized what she was waking up to.
Her arms were tied behind her back, and her hands felt numb except for around her wrists, which burned and itched from the rope that restricted her. She was on something lumpy but soft, a bed perhaps, and her ankle had something hard and jingly attached to it.
As the sensations of her body unfolded themselves to her, she felt panic rise in her chest, and mere moments after waking, her resolve failed and she cried out.
"Elle's revei," someone said.
Yue recognized Prisian, not least because Maya had practiced a bunch during the trip. She could no more understand it if they'd been speaking Canthic.
