Accepting my destiny (Three mates)

"LUCY!" mum calls out on the top of her lungs.

" Yeah I'm up, will be down in a bit" I say embarrassed

I check my phone that's on my nightstand. It says 06:40.

Shit my flight!!

I rush off the bed almost stumbling. "Of all days to be late you choose today, you know you don't own no DAMN PLANE!" mum says giving up on me

I fix my posture as I stand up straight "Yeah mum I know and thanks " I say dragging myself to the bathroom, I start with my morning routine.

For those that are wondering, I'm moving today, leaving behind my mum (Emelda) and sister (Maria). It's really a whole different feeling really. I'm used to the idea of sleeping over at my girls Cindy and Abi's place but this, this is just so new and foreign to me.

I look at myself in the mirror in approval of what I'm wearing. I'm wearing light denim skinny jeans, a neutral comfy tee, grey scarf and some cute white sneakers.

Walking into my room again I look at my bags that are packed by the window and I am so ready to move. This shitty town has been giving me heartaches. I don't know what else to call what it makes me feel besides heartaches. Literally. The guys here seem to not know what they want and they just can't handle me. I need someone who is willing and able to hold me down. Know what I mean?

The only thing that comforts me now is that everyday is a chance for me to learn and grow. Somebody once said that "every minute will impact your life whether in a good way or bad way". We just kinda have to make the best out of it I guess.

I head down stairs to find mum and Maria in the kitchen chatting.

" I take time off from work, to send my first born daughter off but no.... this somebody doesn't want to show that she's grown" my mum says in disbelief looking out the window.

" Lucy you can always stay, you know" Maria says with a smirk on her face.

I glare at her with everything in me, then turn to mum.

"Mum I've changed really, I've just been so tired but the next time we meet again I will be different" I say with an assuring voice.

" Anyways hurry up, you have like two hours till your flight goes" mum says standing up "come on grab your stuff"

I rush upstairs to grab my stuff, looking into my room for the last time. I feel peaceful. I head down to the car already running. After loading my things we start off.

Looking at mum as she drives me to the airport, you can see it in her eyes, she's fighting back the tears. The car ride is peaceful with ' hold me while you wait by Landon Austin' in the background.

Leaving mum gives me this overwhelming feeling, which makes me want to tell her to make a uturn. But I need this change, I need to stand on my own feet

We arrive at the airport, but I don't want them to come into the airport with me, because it will be too much for me to handle.

"Be good ok? Do not let any scumbag take advantage of you over there. You hear me?" She said looking me straight in the eyes with tears in the corners of her eyes.

"Yes mum" I say, as I give her a hug, holding back my tears. I don't want her to see me crying or else she will be on my radar, calling me like there's no tomorrow.

I let go of mum and turn to give Maria a tight hug, then whisper in her ear to take care of mum, all she does is hug me tighter

"Okay let go of me, or else you will buy me a new ticket" I say letting go

I give them both an ' I will be okay' smile as I walk away towards the airport doors that are literally screaming change to my face.

I can really feel it, as I walk through the doors it's only a matter of time for me to be in the air, without a care in the world. I get cleared and head to the gates to my unknown destiny.

You know that feeling one gets when they are excited but scared at the same time. ?That's me right now. I feel ridiculous because all I'm doing is starting over, how hard can that be.....!? it's not like i'm going to die or anything right ?

Walking past posters wishing me a safe journey and the feeling of excitement growing wider and wider. It's safe to say that I'm ready, ready for whatever that's coming my way.

In the plane, I locate my seat and place my bag in the baggage slot. Sitting down I fasten my seat belt, to make sure that I'm nicely seated . Wandering off in my thoughts, someone taps me on my shoulder, ushering me to move aside so that he could sit by the window.

This dude just took handsomeness to another level. I don't manage to understand what he's saying till he calls me out again.

"Miss, are you okay ?" He asks with a confused look on his face.

"I'm sorry I didn't notice that there was anyone seated on the other seat" I say, taking off my seat belt and moving aside.

He eventually sits down, while I follow suit. Putting on my seat belt yet again.

"Hi, I'm Nathan " he says with some ray of hope to start a conversation.

"Hi, I'm Lucy" I say as I smile.

"Where are you heading to? " He asks again with those confused eyes.

" Denver and you ? " I say, trying to cut this conversation short

" Me too," He says with a smile on his face.

" That's nice, do you live there ? " I say

"No, just business" He says as he smirks

---------------- 5 hours later ---------------

The flight was actually comfortable, Nathan and I made very good conversation throughout the flight. I found out that he lives in Georgia, with his family p.s he's not married yet. Dude loves R&B, fishing, and actually all outdoor activities.

" I hope we meet again" He says as he calls a cab for me and himself of course. I would do it myself but the dude insisted like he was buying me dinner or something.

"Yeah, me too, this was fun" I say, as I wait

We exchange numbers and go our separate ways.
