A World Unmasked

Dozens of bodies laid on the battlefield,dead.The surroundings was completely destroyed,bright orange flames danced wildly,while the winds blew ominously.There was red patches on the earth near the bodies,it's stench revealing it to be blood.Far away from this bloodbath was a small group of adventurers that consisted of men and women alike,armed with weapons that varied from axes and swords,to bows and wands.They had a similar look etched on all of their faces,a look of utter fear.They seemed to be searching for something,or rather,someone anxiously,as if trying to get away from their apparent deaths.

It was then they heard movement from their right,and before some of them had time to even react to this,one of them was slain before their very eyes.A look of shock was on his face,he seemed to be calling out for help,but his words were mere gurgles to them due to the scythe that protruded out of his throat.Those that was quick to act quickly got ready to face the incoming attack,some whom had even started chanting various magic spells.Calls of different magic spells such as 'Search','Create : Barrier' and 'Enchantment : Strengthen' was heard,but it did not seem to faze their attacker.Instead,it seemed to excite him even further,as shown by the slight smirk on their face when reappearing to continue their onslaught...

Moments later,a lone being cloaked in a black robe stood alone on the battlefield,surrounded by the fresh corpses of the formerly alive group of adventurers.They had a look of boredom on their face,as if they weren't satisfied,a pair of blood red eyes revealing their insatiable bloodlust.A single thought ran through their mind : 'Pathetic..' The stranger inspected their scythe,seemingly appreciating the fresh blood on it's end.They did not bother to wipe it off,but instead chose to sheathe the scythe.They then turned to look at their surroundings,and seemed to be eyeing the mountains laid far from their current location.They walked past various piles of corpses which seemed to be killed in a way similar to the ones earlier.There was easily a hundred or more corpses,if not,thousands here on this battlefield.All of them were adventurers who was executed and killed by a single person.

This continued on for an unknown number of years,adventurers who were hired to find this powerful being who had performed these actions was killed in mere seconds,while those who had submitted the request cowered in fear,afraid that they will be next.This powerful being came to be known as the 'Uncrowned Emperor',a person of unknown gender and age,but possesses godlike power.

As many years passed,the numbers of adventurers plummeted immensely,while potential adventurers rid themselves of the thoughts of being one in the first place,due to their fear of potentially meeting the 'Uncrowned Emperor'.The killings came to be known as purges,committed by the 'Uncrowned Emperor' to entertain themselves.

Many more years passed,and the killings started to lessen more and more until it simply stopped one day. Rumours of the 'Uncrowned Emperor' disappearance quickly spread throughout the world,which seemed to have gotten rid of peoples' fears,thus leading to an immense increase in the rate of new adventurers.The rumor seemed to be true,as many more years passed,and there was still no sighting of the 'Uncrowned Emperor'.Although they seemed to have disappeared,however,their actions was still a great impact on the world.The acts that they committed and the destruction that they caused soon came to be known as 'The Requiem',the world's greatest tragedy.Was this the start of world peace? Or was this the start to an even greater tragedy?Only time will tell as time passes and as the earth's mask cracks little by little...
