15 YEARS AGO, YEAR 5 OF THE MARELIRIAN ECLIPSE
How many are there? A hundred? Two? A thousand? Aedea asks in her mind. Regardless of how many the enemies' numbers are, one thing is for sure: they sent enough to fully overpower us. They really thought this through.
"Get down!" Aedea says, pulling her daughter down low to the ground as bullets rain all around them.
Bullets rain all above them. Too late was it when the two try to avoid them all, as one of which grazes Aedea's left ear.
Her hearing becomes muffled at the unbearable sound. Her hand automatically goes to her ear, covering it to shield it from the sound.
"Momma! Momma! Are you okay?" Thea worriedly asks, shaking her, the little girl's head also hung low, her eyes filled to the brim with tears.
She puts a hand over her daughter's head, patting her. Her other hand wipes the young one's tears dry. The latter is shaking uncontrollably, her entire body still trembling.
