"What!?" Sakagami Tomoya, a twenty-year-old neet still living at his parents' house, stared wide-eyed at the computer screen. "Miku-chan!"
Tomoya stood up and rushed to his bedroom door, only to stop when he realized he was in no condition to go out. He flipped on the lights, causing him to shield his eyes as he looked around his room, that was a total mess. Clothes everywhere. Dirty dishes and trash stacked up on his desk and floor. Piles of wadded-up tissues from blowing his….. nose…
His walls were plastered with anime girls in suggestive poses and outfits. His bed even had one body pillow that had a naked Asuna on one side and another with her in a naked apron. However, it had a few strange stains here and there. He had three shelves filled with figurines or nothing but anime girls as well. Each one was a limited edition that had clothes that came off, revealing what was underneath.
He took a sniff of his armpit and frowned slightly. He quickly ran to the bathroom to freshen up. All the while, he was chanting Miku-chan over and over. Making his own parents wonder if they should finally commit their son.
"Tomo, you going out?" Tomoya's mother asked.
"Yep! A special Miku is on sale! I need to go before they are sold out. They are a limited edition!" Not waiting for his mother's response, Tomoya ran out of the house at full speed.
His mother stood there staring at the door that had just slammed shut and sighed. "He does realize his father stopped his card, right?"
Tomoya was well off, that is for sure. His parents owned a billion-dollar company, so he did not have to worry about much, and this was one of the reasons he was allowed to continue on as he had.
Even the clothes he was wearing now cost a few thousand Yen. But with his hair that was all over the place, it looked sort of out of place. He would have preferred to wear his anime shirts and pants, but he was told by his father he must dress like a normal person outside the house if he went out, or he would be kicked out. Since he had no money or other means to live, he had no choice but to comply.
But this did not stop him from continuing his chant as he smiled away and walked down the street. "Miku! Miku! Nude Miku!"
The strange looks and parents who pulled their children behind them to hide them from Tomoya were a normal occurrence for this young man. He did not mind. He would not even look at them anyway. He only cared about 2D girls. While he did find some real girls beautiful, he had a bad experience not long ago that made him not trust real women, and this was also why he would not venture out unless he had to.
Tomoya took almost an hour to get to his destination. He had to take two trains and a bus to Akihabara. Taking a deep breath, Tomoya let it out slowly. He could already smell his Miku! "Miku! I am coming!" Without a care in the world, he walked to the store that was selling the limited edition Miku figurine. He found the stand that was set up for the figure's display and let out a sigh of relief to see that there was actually one left. He quickly snatched it up and carried it to the register.
"Your card was declined…." The guy behind the counter's words was like a death sentence to Tomoya.
"Ummm… can I scan it again?" Tomoya asked anxiously. He did not know what was going on. This card was connected to his father's bank account. He could normally spend as much as he wanted, but now…..
"Still says declined. Do you have another card?" The cashier asked.
"This…. Hold on." Tomoya quickly took out his phone and called his house. "Mom, my card was declined."
"Tomo, I wanted to tell you this morning that your father canceled your card. You have spent money on nothing but those doll things for the past few years, costing up to a few hundred thousand. While we will give you what you need to live on, those dolls are not really important. He said if you want the card activated again, you need to get a job…." Tomoya did not hear half of what His mother just said. All he heard was the card was canceled. This meant no Miku!
He looked at the cashier and shook his head. "Sorry to waste your time." He politely bowed his head before walking away. The cashier looked at him with a bit of sympathy before showing a hidden smile as he quickly stuffed the Miku figurine behind the counter so no one could see it. Luckily, there was no one else at the register.
Tomoya walked outside and down the street to the main road. When he arrived, the sun was beating down, causing beads of seat to form on his forehead. He was in a bit of a daze. He had never thought he would need to get a job so soon. But when he thought about it, he really had not done much with his life. "I guess it's time to change." With a bit of determination and a new feeling overwhelming him, Tomoya stepped out onto the crosswalk…..
"Hello!" A cheerful voice could be heard from his side. Tomoya blinked his eyes in a state of confusion.
"Umm… I was just on the street, and then here?" Tomoya did not know what had just happened. He had just decided to turn his life around so he could afford his own hobby, and now he was sitting in a place that had a clear blue sky, but the ground was like a field of cotton or clouds?
"Hello! Earth to human!" The voice from his side spoke up once more. Only now did Tomoya turn to see a woman with blue hair standing there, looking at him with an annoyed gaze. "Finally awake?"
"Aqua!?" Tomoya cried out.
"Oh! So you know me!" A proud look spread on Aqua's face. With her nose in the air and her hands on her hips, she proudly said: "That Is right, it is I, the Aqua! The goddess of everything holy and pure!"
"Pfft…. Pure…" Tomoya couldn't hold back. To him, Auqa was the kind of girl who would put out for a mug of ale.
"Why are you laughing!? I swear I am as pure as they come!" Aqua yelled out in anger.
