17.) Beta
Authors note: hey guys. We get a real intro to the new Beta Max. Remember, the blue eyes come in only after they begin to drink vampire blood. This will also allow them to retain control of their wolf forms.
I.e no need for rings or rituals.
Also, fyi, black wolfsbane will be akin to the white oak ash dagger used to subdue the originals. Meaning it would kill regular wolves and Desiccate alphas.

Derek
I slowly begin to wake up. The nights events are a little blurry but I'm slowly beginning to remember. The bar fight. Being stabbed.
I shoot up I to a sitting position and see we're in Kyle's house. He may be a dick, but he's a rich dick. That alone makes him useful. I promised his sister I would take care of him and I will.
Looking around my room I see I'm alone. But things feel different. The familiar scent of my room is 10 times clearer than I remember it being. Not only that, but it's also brighter than it usually is in here.
Granted, my drapes are a light color because nobody wants to sleep in all day. However, today it's exceedingly bright. Right as I'm about to get out of the bed to see what the hell is going on I hear footsteps outside.
Kyle opens the door and actually looks relieved, "thank god you're awake. I was beginning to think Zach was lying."
"Zach?" I ask not knowing who he's talking about. At the mention of his name from my mouth a kid a few years younger than me appears.
When I say appears I do mean just that. Appears. The next thing I notice is his glowing red eyes with black overtaking the whites. "Ah, Derek. It's good to see you awake. In truth I'm as excited as you're friends are that you're okay. You represent something new."
I shoot out of the bed ready to protect my charge, Kyle, when Zach appears in front of me. His eyes become slits and he speaks to me in a deep, gutteral voice. "Calm. Down."
His red eyes glow more intensely and I continue to fight.
That all stops however when he roars in my face. A mouth full of razor sharp teeth dripping with some kind of black substance. Something deep within me told me I was about to cross the edge of no return.
Before I know what's happening I'm sitting on the edge of the bed. "Good." Zach says letting his eyes become human looking again and taking a deep breath.
After regaining his cool he continues to speak. "Had you let me finish I was about to explain your new situation. The world is about to be a whole lot bigger."

How right he was. Werewolves, witches, and vampires all fighting a millennium old species war. That's not even the worst part. From what Zach said the first few transformations are horrible.
"It's not pleasant by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, they'll be the worst experiences of your life."
I shudder remembering that part. And the fact that there's 1,000 year old vampires running around.
I'd asked for time alone. Beside me sat a bag full of blood. Zach told me to drink it. "I don't know why, but it tastes good to me. Just try it."
I was still a bit confused and anxious about the world I've just stepped into, but the curiosity was there. Ever present.
Before I knew what was happening I felt the crimson life giving liquid hit my tongue and my world exploded in color.

Zach
I sat in the front room of Kyle Kensly's house. A rich kid who's family died, leaving him the sole heir.
Useful.
I think to myself after learning this information. We'd just come back down from Derek's room to give him some time to come to terms with his new reality. I had a glass of vampire blood while Kyle and Katie, his girlfriend, had alcohol.
"How'd he take it?" Katie asked the group. In the short time knowing her I learned she wasn't afraid to speak her mind.
Kyle sighed, "I think he was a bit overwhelmed Kate. It's not easy to learn your life has changed so drastically."
"He'll be fine once he shifts for the first time and accepts it." I say lazily taking a sip of the blood of stored from my latest hunt. I slowly close my eyes and savor the blood of another predator. The wolf in me pleased about being the apex.
"How do you know?" Asks Kyle. He's a bit of a dick to everyone not named Katie.
I open my now red eyes and speak to him, hoping seeing my eyes will be enough non verbal warning, "Because it happened to me not too long ago. Woke up and didn't know who I was. Only that I could turn into a giant wolf. He's far better off than I was. He has a family and a guide."
"Guide?" Katie asks.
"Well, more like an alpha." I say smirking. "He's my beta. Which means he's going to be fine." I say waving off her concerns. The full moon is later this evening. Once we get Derek used to being a wolf I'll find a way to keep him from having to turn.
All that thought ceased when I heard Derek begin crying out in pain in the room upstairs.
It seems like it's loud enough for Kyle and Katie to hear too. They begin running up the stairs while I blur up to make sure nobody gets hurt.
Inside I see Derek laying on the ground. His temperature tells me he's getting ready to turn. But that's not possible. The full moon doesn't rise for another 8 hours.
I open his eyes as Kyle and Katie make their way upstairs and I see something fascinating.
The normal gold pupil I'm familiar with in werewolves becomes a cold steel blue. Looking down I see the vampire blood on Derek's lips.
'Interesting. Very very interesting.' I think looking at the beta.
Without turning around to look at them I speak to the two behind me, "I'm going to make sure he shifts away from people. He'll kill anyone not a part of his pack." I say blurring away to prepare my beta for his first shift and vampire hunt. There's one in the next town about 45 miles to the North.
'Time to see if my created species are capable of fighting a vampire.' I think genuinely excited to see the result. This was all unplanned and in the moment.
But the realization of myself being able to create wolves is an incredible prospect. One I plan to take full advantage of.

Authors note: Hey guys. The timeskip arc chapters will be quick and to the point like this. I'm just trying to build a basis for him so when he shows up in Mystic falls for the final goodbye ;) then we see his growth from the beginning of the story to the mid point wgich eventually leads us into NOLA baby.
