Chapter 50: Gwen's Talk-No-Jutsu

In the sewers, George led his team forward cautiously. Walking at the front, he suddenly raised his hand in a signal to halt.

The group behind him stopped in their tracks as George pressed the button on his radio earpiece.

"Chief, Team B has some intel to report," came the voice over the radio.

"Go ahead!" George responded.

"Peter Parker was seen leaving Oscorp Industries in Norman Osborn's car. They went to an abandoned factory. After going inside, Team B discovered that Peter Parker is now in the sewers as well."

Hearing this, George immediately whipped around, eyes wide. "Which direction did he enter from?"

"From behind your position!"

"Damn it!" George cursed under his breath. He quickly turned to two of his officers standing nearby. "You two, take the rest of them and keep searching ahead. The rest of you, come with me."

"Report any situation immediately!"

After last night's events, George was well aware that the Lizard's main target was Peter Parker. Now that Peter had entered the sewers, whatever his reason, the Lizard would undoubtedly be drawn to him first.

Decisively, George split the group into two, leading one team to quickly head in Peter's direction.

As they jogged down the tunnel, they noticed thick strands of spider silk lining the walls. George's face darkened. "Spider-Woman..."

However, he didn't stop to investigate further. At least for now, Spider-Woman was a reliable ally, something George could clearly distinguish.

Watching the scene unfold from the library, Alan frowned as he saw George heading towards Gwen's location. According to the original fate of these characters, George was destined to die at the hands of the Lizard, Dr. Connors.

"It seems I need to intervene personally," Alan murmured. He had no desire to see Gwen fall into confusion and self-blame...

Meanwhile, in the sewers, Peter wasn't rushing, almost strolling leisurely as if on a casual walk. He knew that the moment he entered, Connors' keen sense of smell would detect him.

All he had to do now was wait. Wait for the Lizard to find him, because Peter carried something that Connors desperately needed.

Suddenly, Peter heard the sound of rushing water nearby, and it seemed to be getting closer. He looked toward the sound, and to his surprise, the once calm water's surface began to bubble and ripple as something stirred beneath. Through the murky water, a dark shadow started to emerge, growing larger and larger.

Peter's eyes widened. Something was coming up from the water...

Without wasting a second, he clutched his backpack tightly and turned, sprinting in the opposite direction.

He hadn't gone far when there was a loud crash behind him, water splashing everywhere as the Lizard Connors shot out of the water with the agility of a fish, landing directly in front of Peter.

"Hey, Peter. You finally came back to return what belongs to me?" the Lizard hissed, a sinister smile curling on his face.

Peter instinctively took a few steps back, his hand slipping into his backpack, grasping the newly developed anti-gene serum.

"That belongs to Dr. Connors. You're not him!" Peter shouted. "You're a monster!"

The Lizard Connors chuckled darkly. "No, Peter. I've just found the true path to evolution. You just don't understand yet."

"Once you reach the same heights as me, you'll see. This—becoming like me—is the true destiny for weak, fragile humans."

"Come on, Peter. Give me what's mine," Connors growled, advancing. "Join me in this glorious evolution."

With that, the Lizard lunged forward, claws extended, aiming for Peter.

Just as the Lizard Connors' hand was about to reach Peter, Peter, with quick reflexes, pulled out a vial of anti-gene serum from his bag and thrust it toward the incoming claw.

However, the Lizard's reaction was even faster—he caught Peter's wrist with his other hand and lifted him off the ground.

Glancing at the purple serum in Peter's hand, the Lizard said with a puzzled look, "Peter, I'm not sure what this is, but I can sense that it's very dangerous to me right now." With his free hand, he snatched the serum from Peter and crushed it in his palm.

"Let me guess," the Lizard continued. "You brought my 'special' item to lure me out, and it's inside your bag." The Lizard ripped the bag away from Peter, who tried in vain to protect it. But against the Lizard's current strength, Peter's resistance was as futile as trying to stop a car with his bare hands.

"Don't worry, Peter," the Lizard said with a chilling smile. "You are my most prized student. You'll be the second human, after me, to join this glorious evolution."

Just as the Lizard was about to tear open the bag with his teeth, a white strand of webbing stuck to both the bag and Peter's back. With a powerful yank, both the bag and Peter were pulled away from the Lizard's grasp.

Furious, the Lizard's eyes burned as he looked toward the source. "Spider-Woman! You again!"

Catching both Peter and the bag, Gwen quipped with a smirk, "Oh? So, I'm that famous now, huh? Even sewer lizard monsters know me as Spider-Woman."

She paused mockingly. "What's the matter? Want an autograph? Sorry, Spider-Woman's signature design isn't ready yet!"

Gwen's relentless verbal jabs only enraged the Lizard further. He charged at her furiously.

At the same time, Alan, who had just discreetly arrived in Queens, watched the scene unfold with an odd expression on his face. Could it be… that trash-talking is Spider-Woman's hidden ability?

"Hey, find somewhere to hide!" Gwen called out to Peter as the Lizard rushed toward her. She tossed the bag back to him.

Peter caught the bag and quickly retrieved another vial of the anti-gene serum. He threw it to Gwen. "Inject this into him! That'll do it."

Gwen caught the serum. "Got it, genius!"

Seeing Gwen holding that threatening purple serum, the Lizard immediately became more cautious. As they fought, he constantly kept his distance, thinking of a way to neutralize her.

The sounds of their battle echoed clearly through the sewers. George, who was hurrying to the scene with his team, immediately realized that Spider-Woman was already in combat with the Lizard.

"Everyone, get your weapons ready. Target the Lizard, but make sure not to hit Spider-Woman," George ordered.

The team's weapons varied: some had shotguns, others light lasers, and two wielded flamethrowers.

George had equipped his team with everything that could be used in the confined space of the sewers. If they were above ground, he might have even applied for a rocket launcher to blast the Lizard.

Soon enough, they caught sight of the battle between the Lizard and Spider-Woman. George shouted, "Spider-Woman, get out of the way!"
