It had been a few hours since they had taken off, and the helicopter had been flying steadily through the sky. The sun had set a long time ago. The only light came from the helicopter's instrument panels and the faint moonlight that filtered through the windows.
Samuel and Sarah had fallen asleep some hours ago, exhausted from the events of the day. They were slumped against each other with their heads lolled to one side as they slept fitfully. Ryan and Aria were still awake and they were sitting vigilantly in their seats as they watched the landscape change below them.
Ryan had tried to persuade Aria to sleep, telling her that she needed to rest and that he would keep watch. But Aria had refused, shaking her head stubbornly as she told him that she wasn't sleepy. The truth was, Aria didn't want to sleep because she didn't trust the people on the helicopter. She didn't know who they were or what their motives were, and she didn't want to let her guard down.
