Chapter 27: Inhumans

Emma didn't know what Coulson was thinking, but he wasn't technically wrong because it's easy to go astray in Kamar Taj with some god brainwashing you.

In short, after healing the seven people and Dr. Hill confirming there was nothing wrong, though further tests needed to be done later, she left the place.

Now it was time for the victims' families, who were probably on edge, to check on their family members and see if a miracle had happened.

Seeing Emma come out, although it only took about 20 to 25 minutes, for most of them, it felt like an eternity had passed.

The rest of the people were in a similar situation. Although their family members weren't awake, it was clear that their condition was better than before. Since Dr. Hill had said they were alright, they must be alright.

Emma, who was watching all this from outside and perceiving their emotional changes, couldn't help but let a smile escape her lips.

Coulson, smiling, said, "It seems you're happy, Ms. Emma?"

Emma didn't respond. Wasn't he smiling too?

Nurse Ellie, who had left the room to give the patients some private time with their families, started to feel a little awkward and had come out.

The program for today needed to be changed. Initially, they were supposed to start by giving Emma a practical lesson about the human body and slowly, over a few days, help her understand it as much as possible.

As for her healing the patients, they had estimated she could heal one or two if she did her best. But it seemed they had underestimated the ability of this mutant.

Since they couldn't teach her the practical lesson today, she would at least need to understand the theory. They had already prepared some books for her to read beforehand. Since there was no practical lesson today, they might as well give them to her.

Emma, who was here to learn how a hospital works and also to earn some XP, didn't know that one of the things she hated the most had already been prepared and was waiting for her.

Emma couldn't help but think of Daisy. Of course, she knew the latter was an Inhuman, but she still said, "You mean the one who drove me and Director Fury to the S.H.I.E.L.D. base when I awakened my powers?"

Coulson was surprised that she already knew this. Seeing his surprised face, she said, "Don't look at me like that. I can more or less feel some kind of energy, and hers is stronger than that of an average human."

"Daisy Johnson," Coulson said after understanding. "Or as some call her, Quake."

He continued, "Mutants like you are born with your abilities; your X-gene awakens naturally. Inhumans, on the other hand, are regular people until they're exposed to something called Terrigen Mist. It triggers a transformation and gives them some supernatural abilities."

"But that process isn't something that can be controlled. It's very dangerous. Not everyone survives the transformation, and those who do don't always get powers they can control. Inhumans have a complicated history, just like mutants. It's just that the world doesn't know about most of them, and for good reason."

Well, this knowledge wasn't very useful for Emma, but she let Coulson continue. It wasn't until Nurse Ellie approached them with a stack of books that he stopped talking.
