Chapter 91: Final Exams

The final exams at U.A. High School differ significantly between the various courses.

For the General Studies students, the exams are just like those at any other school, focusing on written tests to assess academic performance.

The Business Course students also take written tests, but their exams cover unique questions related to issues faced by hero agencies, reflecting the challenges they'll encounter in the future.

The Hero Course exams consist of two parts: a written test for academic skills and a practical test for combat skills. U.A. High doesn't allow Hero Course students to focus on just one area; they're strictly tested in all aspects essential to becoming a hero.

As for the Support Course, their exams are the toughest in U.A. High, as they involve evaluations of the equipment and inventions the students create. Failing could result in expulsion.

Time passed quickly, and as the students of U.A. High eagerly prepared for their final exams, the big day finally arrived.

The U.A. High final exams had begun!

For the Hero Course Class A students, the written test was a close call, but they made it through after a grueling week of study sessions. Thanks to some last-minute cramming, even Kaminari Denki and Ashido Mina managed to scrape by on the passing line.

"Midoriya, how did your Support Course exam go?" asked Takeyama Urei, curious.

Midoriya Izuku was a student in both the Hero Course and the Support Course, so he had to take exams in both. After finishing the Hero Course written test, he returned to the Support Course for the crucial equipment evaluation.

"It was a little tricky…"

"You didn't fail, did you?!"

Midoriya looked troubled, making Takeyama's jaw drop. Everyone in Class A had experienced his impressive inventions, and if his creations couldn't pass, then the other students might as well give up.

"No, not exactly…" Midoriya awkwardly explained what happened.

"Before I could even demonstrate my equipment, Power Loader-sensei just told me to leave. He said I'd already passed without needing to show anything."

"Oh…"

Takeyama could relate to that. She understood Power Loader's stance—clearly, it was better to prevent Midoriya from unleashing his 'devilish' inventions in public.

"Let's not dwell on that. Next up is the Hero Course practical exam. I wonder what this one's going to be?"

"It should be a battle against robots, right?"

Midoriya replied to Takeyama. Hado-senpai had hinted to him, as thanks for helping her previously, that past exams had involved robot battles.

"A fight against that 'Zero-Point Villain'? Then I feel a bit relieved~~"

With a Quirk that lets her 'grow giant,' Takeyama felt reassured. After all, to her, giant robots were just big metal obstacles she could kick away.

"Not reassuring at all!!"

Uraraka Ochako and a few other classmates, like the overly eager Mineta Minoru, Ojiro Mashirao, and Kaminari Denki, were far from calm.

"A Zero-Point Villain as the exam opponent? There's no way we can beat that!!"

"True…"

Midoriya agreed. Even with his 'Death Gloves' and 'King of Storms,' he wouldn't stand a chance against a twenty-meter-tall giant robot. For classmates whose Quirks were more suited to support roles, taking down such an opponent would be an impossible challenge.

"When the time comes, maybe we can team up to fight. The teachers know that most students can't take down a giant robot."

"You're probably right… They wouldn't set up an end-of-term exam that no one could pass, would they?"

Midoriya Izuku's words were agreed upon by the others. Now, it was just a matter of seeing how the practical exam would be set up.

---

On the day of the practical exam, when the students gathered at the designated spot in their hero costumes, they noticed that it wasn't just their own class there.

"Class B is here too?"

"Ah! Class A!?"

Bakugo Katsuki and Monoma Neito pointed at each other, both with irritated expressions. They'd already had issues before, so it was no surprise they didn't look happy to see each other now.

"Tetsutetsu, why are you guys here?"

"No idea, Kirishima. Did the teachers call you over too?"

Kirishima Eijiro and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu had formed a solid friendship during the sports festival, so they got along pretty well.

"Midoriya, do you know what's going on?"

"Nope, but let's give it our best shot, Shinso!"

After the U.A. Sports Festival, Midoriya Izuku and Shinso Hitoshi, who had each joined different hero course classes, were meeting again for the end-of-term exam.

...

As the two classes of students chatted among themselves, Class A's homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shouta, and Class B's teacher, Vlad King, stepped in front of them and began explaining:

"For this end-of-term practical exam, the school has decided that Class A and Class B students will pair up for the test."

"In the future, there will be times when you'll have to team up with pro heroes you don't know, so this will test your ability to adapt."

Just as Vlad King finished, Aizawa Shouta took over:

"Originally, the plan was for us teachers to conduct your exam. But because there are a lot of students this time, we've arranged for third-year seniors to act as your opponents."

"A Class A student and a Class B student will each form a team. You can choose your teammates, and the teachers will assign your opponents."

...

The moment the homeroom teachers finished their explanation, Shinso Hitoshi felt a wave of intense stares focused on him. Soon, a bunch of Class A students gathered around him.

"Shinso! Team up with me! With my great persuasion skills, our opponents are bound to talk!"

Kaminari Denki gave Shinso a thumbs-up, practically begging him to be teammates.

"Pick me! Work with me! Shinso, your Quirk is exactly what I've been dreaming of!"

Mineta Minoru, drooling with excitement, was already thankful he hadn't been given the "Brainwashing" Quirk—otherwise, he'd have been in big trouble.

"Shinso, team up with me! I can teach you a few tricks!"

Ojiro Mashirao, surprisingly, wasn't as straightforward as he looked and even tried using friendly tactics.

...

...

Every student in Class A had set their sights on Shinso, each of them hoping he'd pick them as his partner, which left Shinso a bit stunned.

Rubbing the back of his head awkwardly, Shinso Hitoshi found himself suddenly very popular and wasn't quite sure how to handle it.

"Well—guess it can't be helped. With that unbeatable 'Brainwashing' Quirk of yours, it's only natural everyone's after you."

After all, everyone in the first year had witnessed Shinso Hitoshi's "Brainwashing" during the sports festival.

And with third-year seniors as their opponents in the practical exam, who wouldn't want to have a Quirk that could make things easier in one shot?

No wonder Shinso Hitoshi was in high demand!
