Chapter 24 The Spar

Orion walked confidently toward the officer, ignoring the crowd watching him.

"Stop, young man."

The voice came from a huge, silver-haired officer who looked like a giant tower. Orion didn't feel intimidated.

"Explain why you're here," the officer demanded, slamming the spear on the ground and kicking up some dust.

While they talked, a new recruit who had been knocked aside noticed the badge on Orion's chest and gasped.

"Officer that badge belongs to the Supreme Guardian..."

Before he could finish, everyone focused on the badge and started whispering.

"Hey, isn't that the The Architects' Will Medal given by the Supreme Guardian?"

"Does this mean we need to change the guard officer?"

"Is this the guy?"

"Quiet!" A loud roar silenced the murmurs, and the snow in front of the door fell away.

The training field went silent, and even the sound of boots scraping the ground could be heard clearly.

The officer in armor walked toward Orion, his massive figure blocking the sunlight.

A shadow fell over Orion's face, but he remained calm. The officer looked at Orion and the badge, then at Orion again.

"Which family are you from? I don't recognize you." The officer's voice echoed from his helmet.

"The Landau family? No, only those two siblings are well-known."

"Goethe's? Or Lemstein's?"

Seeing Orion didn't answer, the officer guessed.

"You think only nobles can hold important positions in Belobog?"

Orion looked at the officer, understanding that he might be seen as a rich kid here just for show.

"Hmph!" The officer gripped the spear tighter, and Orion heard the clacking of the armor.

"You don't understand the value of this badge."

Suddenly, a bright silver light flashed in front of Orion's eyes, moving so fast he barely had time to react.

A spear—an incredible weapon made in Belobog—sliced through the air, cutting off part of Orion's hair.

Orion narrowly dodged a lightning-fast stab.

He crouched and quickly kicked the officer's calf with a powerful sweep.

"Crash!"

The two collided with a noise that sounded more like metal than flesh.

Orion knew another attack was coming even before he could assess this one.

He quickly retreated, and a massive spear struck the spot where he had been, causing spiderweb-like cracks to spread from the impact, which was much stronger than before.

"Nice a fight!"

The recruits were amazed. They had only heard stories about the Silvermane Guard's strength. The real Silvermane Guard were incredibly powerful.

Orion got up quickly, his right hand glowing with red energy—the power of the stigma he hadn't used in a while.

Orion was confident that with the gravity power of the Star of Eden, the officer wouldn't stand a chance. But he didn't want to use it here.

He wanted to test his control over his strength.

So, Orion decided to win the fight without using any divine keys.

He suspected the officer's actions were because of Cocolia 's badge.

After missing a strike, the Silvermane Guard Officer pulled the spear from the ground and swung it again.

Orion, ready for this, dove and moved in quickly, aiming for a weak spot on the officer.

The officer, knowing how to handle opponents like Orion, kicked out with heavy armored boots. If it connected, it could take Orion out in one hit.

In this moment, Orion's vision seemed to slow down. He could even see the stitching on the boots.

Orion's right hand vanished as he moved like a butterfly through a storm. The Silvermane Guard's powerful kick missed Orion's waist and struck where Orion had been a moment before.

The Silvermane Guard's wrist, holding the spear, was now exposed. For the Silvermane Guard, weapons were as important as life itself. Losing a weapon was like giving up their life.

With a sudden "thunk," the heavy iron spear was stuck in the wall, almost half buried. Orion had placed his glowing red sword just an inch from the Iron Guard's throat.

The officer stopped fighting, and Orion backed away.

The officer straightened up and slammed a hand on their chest armor.

"Commander Yelena Mihashim of the Silvermane Guard reporting for duty," the officer said. He or rather she took off her helmet, revealing beautiful silver hair and a scar across his face. The scar gave her face a heroic look.

Orion was surprised. He hadn't expected the officer to be a woman.

"Do you have any questions, sir?" Yelena asked, her voice tense.

Yelena was frustrated. Cocolia Rand had just sent a young boy, wearing a The Architects badge, to the military camp. This badge was usually worn by top guards of the Silvermane Guard.

It annoyed Yelena that she might have to follow orders from this boy, especially after the trouble Cocolia had caused.

"I think... you might be mistaken," Orion said slightly embarrassed.
