Story 269: Inside of Betrayal

The sanctuary had become a rallying point, drawing survivors from far and wide, all hoping to join Damien Rook’s fight against the Zombie King. Over the past week, Damien and Mira had trained groups of warriors, equipping them with makeshift weapons and tactics honed by their own survival. Yet, as their ranks grew, so did a sense of unease within Damien. Rumors of a spy lurking among them had spread like wildfire.

One night, as the moon hung low, casting long shadows across the sanctuary’s courtyard, Damien gathered his closest fighters for a midnight meeting. Mira was beside him, her gaze sweeping over the gathering faces with suspicion. They both knew that if there was a traitor among them, the upcoming battle against the Zombie King was at risk of being sabotaged.
