For The First Time, She Felt Fear

She bit into one of his severed arms, her sharp teeth ripping through flesh and bone. She chewed noisily, swallowing every morsel with a satisfied sigh.

"You're lucky I like your face. Otherwise, I'd have taken that too," she said, licking the blood from her lips.

Through gritted teeth, Black Flame managed to choke out a response. "Th-thank you… for your mercy, great goddess…"

Flare raised an eyebrow, her smile widening. "Mercy? Oh, darling, I'm not done. I'll even stop the bleeding for you. How generous am I?"

Flames erupted from her hands, searing the stumps of his shoulders. The agonizing heat cauterized the wounds, and though he didn't scream this time, his body convulsed from the pain.

Satisfied, Flare leaned closer. "Now, let's discuss how we're going to deal with this… Uta. Perhaps I should involve Father…"

Her words were cut off by a voice that didn't belong.

"Man, this place reeks. Don't you people clean?"
