When she got to the film crew, she was informed that she would be playing a different role, a lowly maid of a general's wife, a character that would be beaten to death within a few days.
Not even worth comparing to the supporting female role.
It would take just a few days to shoot.
And the role she was originally supposed to play had been snatched away by another actress.
The director asked if she was still willing to play the part, but what choice did she have to be picky? If she didn't take it, she would have to search for another job.
Being a familiar face around here was certainly better than being a complete unknown.
"I heard she got into the production by bringing in funding," someone was chatting nearby.
"Nonsense, she's some investor's mistress. Made a call to the director and got the role on the spot."
"No wonder she walks with her nose in the air, acting more conceited than the lead actress."
A tone filled with disdain and jealousy.
