The Witch Hunter's Verdict

"What did you think? You're my favorite player," the ghost boy said with a wicked grin. "You're an asshole, man."

"Me?"

"It says villain on the introduction card. I wanted to remind you."

"Huh?"

"Whoo-hoo! Fanfar!" Vena called out. "They say you're going to blame me."

"Dude, that boy is asleep standing up," Chrono said, lifting his cowboy hat, revealing the grin on his face along with his glowing purple eyes.

The conference room was filled with whispers. Fanfar stared at an empty seat. It fell to Kiti, who had just entered the hall, to end it.

"Psst, Fanfar!"

Fanfar could have sworn he never blinked. But when he heard Kiti's voice, the ghost boy was gone. Still, Kiti held him by the shoulders and shook him.

"Wake up!"

"What makes you think I was asleep?" Fanfar asked, frowning.

"Your eyes were closed and you were swaying like a branch," Kiti said.

"Maybe," Fanfar said unperturbed, and sat in an empty chair.
