The summer of 2016 was bustling with excitement. With the European Cup expanding to 24 teams, the Copa América celebrating its 100th anniversary, and the Rio Olympics on the horizon, the major European leagues wrapped up their seasons with plenty of drama.
The Bundesliga concluded with suspense, and soon after, the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1 all reached their finales.
In La Liga, there wasn't much suspense. Although Real Madrid was just 1 point behind Barcelona, Barcelona's stability was unmatched. The MSN trio—Messi, Suarez, and Neymar—demonstrated their strength, leaving Real Madrid with no chance. Barcelona defeated Granada 3-0 to clinch the La Liga title!
Granada fans stormed the pitch to celebrate, echoing Barcelona's performance at the end of the season. Despite initially leading Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid by 9 points, Barcelona's unexpected three-game losing streak had been puzzling. Fortunately, they managed to secure the title, and the season ended on a high note.
Real Madrid, narrowly missing the title, was left to rue their missed Champions League opportunity. Su Luo's incredible late goal had shattered their dreams of winning the competition. To make matters worse, Real Madrid's early exit from the Copa del Rey, where they were defeated by the Spanish Second Division team Cadiz, added to their woes. As a result, Real Madrid ended the season without any major trophies.
Many extreme Real Madrid fans blamed Zidane, criticizing his conservative tactics during the match against Union Berlin, especially when they were leading 4-1 but chose to defend. However, such arguments were controversial. After all, it's not easy to predict the effectiveness of a counterattack from a team like Union Berlin.
Despite calls for a coaching change, with some fans suggesting a return for Chelsea's troubled Jose Mourinho or a second stint for Ancelotti, Florentino Pérez stood firm in his support of Zidane. Consequently, Real Madrid did not make a hasty decision to change their coach.
When Su Luo saw this news, he had a bemused expression. He wondered how Real Madrid fans would react if they knew the title they thought they deserved was now out of reach. Su Luo believed that his influence, like a butterfly flapping its wings, had triggered significant changes in European football.
In La Liga, Barcelona emerged as champions. They also won the Copa del Rey by defeating Sevilla 2-0, achieving a double crown. With their championships secured, Barcelona vowed to focus on the Champions League next year. The trio of Messi, Suarez, and Neymar remained intact, maintaining continuity from the previous season.
Ligue 1 continued to be dominated by Paris Saint-Germain, who secured their fourth consecutive title. Zlatan Ibrahimovic had an outstanding season with 38 goals and 13 assists, though his performance still fell short of Su Luo's 57 goals and 40 assists. Even the usually aloof Tianyibu praised Su Luo, acknowledging his exceptional talent.
"This Chinese boy is truly remarkable. If I were a few years younger, I'd want to compete with him," Tianyibu remarked.
At this time, the future star of Paris, Director Mu, was emerging from Monaco. The 16-year-old Director Mu had played 11 times in Ligue 1 that season and provided several assists. No one expected him to become a global sensation just two years later.
In Serie A, Juventus, who had won four consecutive championships, faced a tough start. They were once 11 points behind the leaders, Napoli. Their struggles were exacerbated by their encounter with Union Berlin in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Su Luo's impressive performances had left Juventus reeling, leading to a losing streak in the league.
However, Juventus made a strong comeback in the second half of the season. Under Allegri's guidance, key players like Pogba, Morata, and Dybala found their form. Juventus won 15 consecutive matches, regaining their position at the top of Serie A. By the end of the season, they secured their fifth consecutive title. For the next three years, Juventus' dominance in Serie A seemed unshakeable—unless Su Luo decided to join the league.
Su Luo had no immediate plans to join Serie A, as he was more inclined towards Inter Milan and AC Milan. However, recent struggles of the Milan teams meant that even qualifying for the Champions League had become a challenge. Su Luo's primary goal was to win the Champions League. Once the environment stabilized and all other titles were secured, he might consider Serie A, playing against Ibrahimovic and the Milan duo, and aiming to achieve more in Italian football.
The most surprising development was in the Premier League. Despite the ripple effect of Su Luo's influence, the league's outcome was unexpected. Leicester City, who had poached the Premier League MVP Mahrez, ended up winning the championship!
Leicester's "Miracle of Foxtown," following Union Berlin's "Miracle of Berlin," was remarkable. Leicester, unlike Union Berlin, had faced less competition in the Premier League. The only significant change was that Jamie Vardy, the Premier League MVP for the 2015/16 season, rose from the eighth tier amateur league to the Premier League's top scorer. Vardy outshone Harry Kane with 26 goals and claimed the Premier League Golden Boot.
Su Luo reflected on this and understood the role of destiny in shaping events. Despite his rebirth from 2023 back to 2013, he saw how destiny influenced outcomes. His influence hadn't shifted the course of international football history as much as he expected. True change came only through direct participation, such as Union Berlin's Bundesliga victories and their Champions League success, which defied previous scripts.
Facing Real Madrid again, Su Luo was confident. With the unparalleled mode activated, no matter the challenge—whether it was a galaxy battleship or a dream dynasty—Su Luo was prepared to score two goals in 5 minutes if needed. Ronaldo and Messi would have reason to worry.
In the summer of 2016, without any competitions, Su Luo enjoyed his vacation with beautiful companions. Of course, he didn't indulge in multiple simultaneous relationships; he had no habit of seeking trouble.
He first spent time with Josephine, watching two European Cup group matches together. The former world champions and German favorites had a rather lackluster performance. They drew with Ukraine 2-2 and Poland 0-0. The poor performance of many international players, including Muller, Alaba, Schweinsteiger, Gotze, and Okier, was perhaps influenced by Bayern's loss of the title. Their only goals came from Sane and Kimmich, both Union Berlin players.
The rest of the Union Berlin squad, having matured from youthful exuberance, was now ready to take on top teams like Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. Su Luo saw the current Union Berlin team as a "luxury configuration for the future."
Accompanying Josephine to two matches in France before she left for a fashion show, Su Luo faced a special request.
"You can go on vacation with others, but only casually. That's my last condition."
Seeing Josephine's gentle yet firm gaze, Su Luo quickly nodded in agreement, promising to reassure her.
After providing his assurance, Josephine left confidently. Whether Su Luo's promise would hold was uncertain, even to him. As everyone knows, men often have conflicting decision-making systems.
The next day, Su Luo accompanied Erica to another European Athletics Grand Prix. This event served as a final rehearsal for track and field athletes before the Olympics. Unfortunately, Erica hadn't been selected to represent the German track and field team for the Rio Olympics, which left her feeling a bit down.
"You're still young..." Su Luo said with a reassuring smile.
Erica, feeling a bit down from her rejection, lightly hit him on the shoulder. Su Luo winced a bit but was secretly pleased that he didn't actually feel any pain. The moment Erica's fist connected, Su Luo activated Harland's possession, making the impact feel like a mere tickle.
He couldn't help but think that using his athletic skills to charm girls was a bit outrageous, but he enjoyed the playful exchange with Erica.
Erica had training tasks ahead and could only spend two days with Su Luo. Despite his promises, Su Luo found himself breaking them several times due to Erica's enthusiastic nature. She was an experienced athlete with excellent body proportions and strong legs, which made her running incredibly fast.
After saying goodbye to Erica, Su Luo flew to Los Santos for a secret meeting with Taylor Swift. She had work commitments and couldn't come to Europe, but after Taylor's repeated pleas, Su Luo made the trip across the ocean to see her.
This was Su Luo's first visit to the West Coast city of Los Santos. Although it was meant to be a secret, Su Luo found himself immediately caught up in Taylor Swift's professional team's preparations for him, including wardrobe and styling.
"Who brought me here on purpose?" Su Luo asked, intrigued.
"That would be me," Taylor Swift admitted while playing with her phone. "I missed you so much."
As Taylor sent emails, she blew a kiss to Su Luo, while the makeup artist ignored their flirting and continued with her work.
"So, what's up?" Su Luo asked.
"There's a charity dinner. I'd love for you to be my plus-one. What do you say?"
"Sure, I'm in," Su Luo agreed.
As Taylor Swift and Su Luo arrived at the red carpet from the luxury car, the flashing cameras caught Su Luo by surprise.
"Who's throwing all these flashes?" Su Luo wondered aloud.
The reporters were equally stunned. "What the hell? Su Luo, the European Golden Boot winner! Is he Taylor Swift's boyfriend?"
Despite North America's reputation as a football desert, Su Luo, alongside Messi, Ronaldo, and Beckham, was well-known. In a survey of the most popular male stars in global sports, Su Luo ranked second only to LeBron James, surpassing figures like Curry and Bolt.
The media buzzed with excitement as Su Luo and Taylor posed for photos before heading into the dinner. Inside, they mingled with a dazzling array of stars, including Andrew Garfield, Gal Gadot, Robert Downey Jr., Dwayne Johnson, and Scarlett Johansson.
Su Luo's presence as a sports superstar made him a focal point at the event. His notable appearance drew significant attention.
During a chat, "Little Spider" Tom Holland, who had just wrapped up filming "Captain America: Civil War," excitedly approached Su Luo.
"Su, I'm a huge fan! Are you planning to join the Premier League next season? Maybe come to Tottenham? It would be amazing to see you there!"
Tom Holland's enthusiasm was clear, though his excitement was a bit over the top. Su Luo wasn't bothered by it; he found it endearing.
"Not sure yet. I might still be in Berlin."
"Really? I heard that Keita, Mahrez, Ake, and Rudiger are all transferring... Union Berlin might be disbanded due to financial issues," Holland said, looking concerned.
Su Luo was taken aback. He hadn't been keeping up with the news during his vacation and was surprised by the sudden developments.
"What's going on?" Su Luo asked, puzzled.
