A Promise

The days passed very slowly.

As the fight expanded towards the surrounding areas, Dominic directed the course of the battle against the walkers towards Idaho.

After much work, a safe route was established, and gradually the walkers were directed to special places that the organization called 'shelters,' where all the walkers were safely gathered.

With this, all these undead would be converted into energy. Dominic had devised a serious plan with them, and for those that were not useful, they would be converted into energy.

Within the city of Columbia.

Every trace of the undead had disappeared from the streets, and the abandoned cars were also gradually moved to the border to serve as a provisional wall against the walkers. Now, every trace of trash was something that could not be seen in the surroundings, and everyone seemed to have awakened from a nightmare. Some buildings were put into operation, where families and couples received independent homes.

Dominic assigned Daryl and his brother Merle, along with Negan, as the leaders of this place to help stabilize this new world. All the survivors, without exception, accepted being part of the plans, and in no time, everyone had their tasks.

From Virginia, 500 police officers with real training were sent, and over 1,000 border soldiers were distributed among different checkpoints to the north, where the organization's domain was constantly expanding.

The people of this place were gradually moved to open areas, and through open surveys, many decided to come to South Carolina to work on opening this new territory, as was being done in Alabama.

Everyone was impressed to see numerous supplies, soldiers, and personnel arriving. They also saw how military bases were taken, provisional posts cleaned, hospitals put into operation, fire stations reactivated, tanks removed, and helicopters taken out of the city.

Dominic took advantage of these to seize important military bases and manage to find incredible military resources. Additionally, there were numerous factories where, with the right people, they could produce the necessary ammunition to continue the fight in South Carolina without relying on other cities.

But even though he trusted Daryl, Merle, and Negan a lot, Dominic appointed Stuart as the general leader, having full control of what happened in this place and the course the battle should take.

All this new formation was accepted by everyone, and although some openly complained about the random tests and interrogations, everyone concluded that it was necessary.

Work, study, and points that served as the currency in the organization—different jobs that no one ever thought would be seen again—were taking shape, and gradually the city came to life.

Negan saw the crowd walking back and forth carelessly, while others moved resources, and some greeted the police patrolling the streets. While the police were present, everyone knew there was no need to carry high-powered weapons in their daily lives.

Everyone trusted the new government once again!

Just when the city was so busy, there were some people chatting at the fork in the road outside the city.

"Ha, ha, ha, I never thought there would be a new government that is actually doing things right."

Five heavily armed men who belonged to the cleaning crew in the sectors that still contained walkers stood on the main avenue, and behind them was an armored vehicle that contained special sensors.

"What else do we have to do?"

"The leader's wishes are clear: after cleaning up the whole country and securing the borders, he will clean up Canada, which is currently in latent danger with the multitude of walkers at the borders. After that, if we have time, we'll go to Mexico, Guatemala, and beyond to expand our help."

"A unified government across the world."

"What about North Korea? Their clown leader is probably eating right now. I think they won't like us taking control of the whole world."

"I don't know; the situation in other countries is complicated."

Dominic was about to make them a promise, but before that, he had to secure his home and ensure that all the survivors who could still be saved were put in shelters.
