The final exams were only three days away, and the atmosphere at school was immensely tense. The Education Bureau, aiming to encourage both students and teachers, initiated a reward activity.
There were three classes in ninth grade, with a total of over a hundred students. The teacher of the class with the highest composite score would receive an extra subsidy at the end of the year.
The top three students from each class would also receive rewards. To motivate all students to exert effort, the principal additionally established a progress award. The student who showed the greatest improvement would receive a three yuan reward, as determined by the teachers based on academic performance.
It was difficult to be among the top three in the class, but the progress award was quite fair. Even the underperforming students had a chance to win this prize if their grades improved significantly compared to before.
