He sat down at his computer and began researching the orphanage. It had been in operation for about forty years. He explored the various matrons and directors who had led the institution, noting the periods during which they served.

When he looked up the year of his adoption, he discovered the names of the director and matron at that time. He jotted their names down in a notepad, feeling a sense of purpose.

He planned to immerse himself in activities to help him forget about Maureen. For years, he had hesitated to search for answers, believing there was no point in seeking out those who weren't looking for him.

He thought about the possibility that his biological parents might not even be aware of his existence, or worse, that they might have passed away. Why should he burden himself with the search?
