Blue Fire

'Something is definitely wrong.' Renjiro Thought

This was the first time he was learning a jutsu after a long time. Renjiro didn't know why, but he felt something was wrong.

'Is something wrong with my body? No. That shouldn't be the case since I am sure I did not sustain injuries during the chunin exams. Or is it this jutsu?'

Renjiro decided to go through his ninjutsu repertoire. He started with his fire jutsus before heading to his wind ones. In total, they were not more than twenty, which was something Renjiro was ashamed of if he was honest.

Once he started going through his Wind-natured jutsus he realized the issue.

'Why do they feel... what's the word for it? Weak. Yeah, why do they feel weak?'

Renjiro leaned on a closer wall, trying to retrace his steps to troubleshoot the problem he was experiencing.

'They felt fine when I was in the forest of death, so the change must have happened between that time and now.'

'The only thing that I have done in between is meditate in those rooms at the tower. Wait, that could be it!'

Ever since Renjiro learned fire and wind jutsus, both natures have always been of similar strength, the only difference being their destruction capabilities.

It was similar to one being ambidextrous since he had the dual chakra affinity natures. But now it seemed like he had reverted to only having one of his arms as the stronger one. The Fire Nature jutsus were now stronger than their wind counterparts.

'It seemed that I severely underestimated the power of the chakra crystals. If this is the result of a handful of meditation sessions there, then I can't imagine what will be the result of more similar ones.'

Yes, Renjiro had meditated using the chakra crystals of the clan before, but it was only one session. After seeing little to no improvements to his Ninjutsu, he decided to start meditating at his home.

It was not that he was lazy, but Renjiro valued the privacy his home offered. Something that he now rued as he realized he would have made a lot of improvement in his ninjutsu.

'There is no need in crying over spilt milk. I have already recognized the problem, so I just need to rectify it. It's already evening, so this should be the perfect time for meditating.'

Renjiro quickly made his way to the centre of the clan compound. The meditation rooms were situated close to the hall that the Uchiha clan used for their important meetings.

At the entrance, he met an overseer and after finishing up with the registration, Renjiro was escorted to the meditation.

One important detail that Renjiro realized was that every ninja was given a particular quota that they could use for free.

The quotas were different as one ascended the shinobi rank. Academy students had around thirty hours per month while Genins and Chunins had Eighty and Sixty hours respectively.

For Jounins and above, they were not limited to the amount of time they could meditate as the chakra crystals were only efficient to a certain point. That was also the same reason why Chunins had less time as compared to Genins.

'There are only eight rooms available out of sixteen. I should probably go to the wind rooms, but it is not like I had an option since all the fire rooms are occupied.'

Upon entering the room, Renjiro saw that it closely resembled the ones back at the tower. Probably there was some standardization in their construction.

Renjiro sat in the usual lotus position and began his meditation. It was very refreshing as he quickly filled his chakra reserves as he had used some chakra earlier in the day.

'My reserves are completely full, so where is the chakra I am absorbing going?'

Since he could not come up with an answer, Renjiro decided to completely focus on the meditation. He only had one week left as a genin, or at least he hoped, so he would use the whole Eighty hours to the fullest.

True to his word, Renjiro managed to meditate until early the following day. He had not slept but he felt fresh nonetheless.

'I guess I have to substitute my physical workout time for meditation, or at the very least reduce it because this feels good.'

After he left the room, Renjiro asked around how the whole concept worked. The overseer gave him a look that seemed to how he became a genin without knowing.

Renjiro was already used to such looks whenever he was in the compound due to his physical appearance, so it did not bother him.

'The explanation is pretty straightforward. When I meditate, I absorb the ambient chakra nature in the room. The chakra, for example, in fire rooms would be of fire nature variety.

The chakra would not be used to help me recover my chakra but instead, go directly to my body. Once my body absorbs it, it gets easier for it to quickly convert my chakra to said chakra nature.'

'My chakra is inherently made up of the two natures, so if I continue to use the chakra crystals, I would be able to empower my jutsus without the need to increase the chakra consumption.'

The Chakra crystal would help him in learning various elemental affinities, but it reacts the most with the inherent ones. If the affinity was forty-four percent then it would just increase it.

This made sense as everyone's chakra was a composition of all the elemental natures. That was also the main reason why one could use jutsus of elements that weren't their main ones.

'Anyway, I should start with the wind jutsus first to see whether the changes were perceptible.'

Renjiro performed the wind wave again and since he had already begun learning it the previous day, he got it in a few tries.

'The changes are not that conspicuous, but that makes sense because I have only had one meditation session. I am sure that it will start to show by the course of the week just like the fire one did.'

Renjiro continued the schedule for the majority of the week with him spending most of his days working on the various jutsus he was to learn and finishing the day off with meditation. He kept on alternating the sessions between fire and wind Chakra crystals.

On the second day, he was able to master the three-wind jutsus while on the third day, Flame Whirlwind and Flame Wave jutsus were mastered. It was easier because they built up concepts similar to learning the fireball jutsu.

On the other hand, he spent another whole day mastering the Phoenix sage flower nail crimson jutsu, as it required a bit of multitasking. Renjiro had to ensure that he had infused enough fire into the shurikens while also hitting their mark.

Renjiro spent the fifth and sixth days working on the combination jutsus. His target was combining Flame Wave with Wind Wave. The only wave to combine them was using a shadow clone while performing either jutsus.

"Boom!!"

'The result might be close to explosion release. Although using 'might' might be an overstatement.'

[AN:// Kakuzu used this combination jutsu against Kakashi, so you could check to know of its impact.]

'Still, I need to get the timing well. If Either fire or wind is released first, it offsets the impact by a lot.'

'All in all, this is a good combination jutsu to have. Fire Manipulation has always been fun to do. Wait, can I make my flames blue?'
