Trying out the new Minimap, Carman was pleasantly surprised that he could summon and dismiss it with a thought as well as move it to various parts of his vision like it was an interactive GUI. Furthermore, when he moved it in front of Ryuzu, it became transparent, allowing him to see her though it.
Looking at the Blueprinting function, he noticed that he could input all of the production techniques into it at once, but the cost was astronomical.
What was nice was that he could input a brief description of what he was aiming for when filling out the project details.
Choosing something relatively simple, Carman decided to research "Firearms" using his techniques in clockwork engineering, Alchemy, and Blacksmithing. He was given a 75% success rate, and it required iron ore and pyro oriented alchemy ingredients.
Luckily Ryuzu had happened across some Flaming Flowers and brought them home, Carman used an ice cube to cool down the plant to harvest the stamens from time to time.
It was a pain to keep the plant alive as Carman had to place it next to the fireplace in the apartment and light a fire every day in order to allow it to absorb Pyro energy. However the stable supply of alchemy materials was worth the hassle.
As he submitted the materials a timer popped up
[Researching: "Firearms"
Selected Techniques: Clockwork Engineering, Alchemy, Blacksmithing.
Time left until completion: 23 hrs
Success rate 75% ]
Opening his skills, he read the descriptions of the skills Transfiguration, Transformation, and Shadow Clone.
[Skill: Transfiguration
Lv.1
Description:
Allows the user to change the substance of an object, depending on what it is changed into, the transfiguration may be unstable and come undone in time. These changes could be from changing inorganic matter into organic matter and vise versa.
Some materials are impossible for this skill to permanently change objects into, this includes Gold and heavy elements.
Requires the consumption of energy in order to use this skill.
This skill requires a Transfiguration Circle to be drawn around the material the user wishes to change.
Once this skill is raised to level 10 it will automatically fuse with [Transformation] to create skill, [Transmutation].]
[Skill: Transformation
Lv:1
Description:
This skill allows the user to change the shape of an object or material, but not its composition. Such as changing a iron sword into a large iron gear.
Requires a Transformation Circle to operate.
Once this skill is raised to level 10 it will automatically fuse with [Transfiguration] to create skill, [Transmutation].]
[Skill: Shadow Clone
Lv. 1
Description:
Condenses a large amount of energy to create a clone of the user, this clone can use every ability the user has. However this clone is weak to attacks and will disburse after being hit once, or after it depletes the energy making up its body.
There is a weak mental link between the clone and the user that allows the clone's memories to transfer back to the user upon dispersal.
Due to the energies prevalent in Teyvat, the Shadow Clone may express different abilities depending on the energy it is made of.]
As soon as he read the descriptions two circles imprinted themselves into Carman's mind, it was as though he had studied them for decades and could clearly recall them with little effort. He also instinctively knew the shape he would have to form energy into in order to create a clone.
He put those new abilities into his list of things to investigate later, and checked his [Status].

Oh, I'm already at the first Ascension? The ruin guard and encounter with the knaves must have given a lot of exp. I wonder if the process will be the same as in the game... Thought Carman as he clicked the ascend Button
[Notice: [Ascend] is unavailable please complete main quest [Divine Remains] in order to unlock]
Huh, that's interesting. Thought Carman
Navigating to his quest tab, Carman found a new quest had been added to it.
[ Quest: Divine Remains
Lv: 20
Description:
You have stumbled upon a domain maintained by the people of Khaenri'ah, you have found remnants of a fallen being that held divinity in Teyvat. This fragment is giving off the negative energy known as Karma. The remains hold a fragment of the will of Gale du' Temps, and it is enraged by not being able to take back the power stripped from it.
Objective: find at least 5 units containing the siphoned power of the sprite and return it to the fragment of Gale du' Temps.
Rewards: Purification of Karma from Gale du' Temps, 4* Catalyst: Fan of 500 Winds, 2000 exp, [Ascend] unlocked.]
Carman looked over the quest requirements. Is that it? Just 5? It says at least, maybe something else will happen if I collect more?... Let's not get ahead of ourselves I haven't even found one unit yet.
"Ryuzu, this canister holds a piece of a dead divine being, apparently it's putting out a lot of negative energy cause it's remains have been desicrated." Said Carman
"Then why are you still holding it?" Asked Ryuzu.
"Cause the canister is somehow able to keep the energy contained. Anyway I was thinking, maybe we could look for the energy they stripped off it, maybe it will calm it down." Said Carman
"Just put the container down first, and how do you know that it would calm it down?" Asked Ryuzu
"Call it a hunch, I mean if I was a god, or a fragment of a dead one's consciousness, I would be miffed if someone decided to steal my bone marrow or something." Said Carman.
As they looked around the lab Carman kept holding on the canister with the transparent feather. He kept his elemental sight active, looking for anything giving off an Anemo cyan glow.
