Daedric extended his hand to Hazel as he stepped into the boat, his sharp gaze scanning their surroundings. Without hesitation, she clasped his hand and climbed in.
Once inside, Daedric's hand lingered, guiding her closer as a few other men boarded behind them. The unexpected proximity sent a rush through Hazel, her heart pounding in her chest like a drumbeat.
"Your Highness, you can release me now," Hazel whispered, her voice barely audible over the soft lapping of the water. Daedric immediately let go, stepping back with his usual composed demeanor.
"You can't address me like that here," he reminded her.
"Then what should I call you?" she asked, tilting her head thoughtfully. A small smile played on her lips as an idea struck. "What about Ric?"
"That will suffice," Daedric replied with a slight nod, his expression softening for a moment before he turned and walked further into the boat.
