The journey took longer than Ren had expected it to be. The bustling city had long disappeared behind them, replaced by wide open spaces and rolling hills that stretched endlessly into the horizon.
Kade's spacecraft moved swiftly, but the sheer distance made the trip nearly half an hour long. It might have taken almost half a day if he were on earth.
Luckily, the speed of the spacecraft did not disappoint him.
Ren sat quietly, staring out of the window as the city's towers became dots in the rearview. Halfway through the ride, Ren had gently pulled his hand back, leaving Kade momentarily at a loss.
Now, as the vehicle finally slowed, Kade's eyes landed on the steep hillside before them. It was far from any recognizable landmark, the kind of place most would overlook.
But Kade had clearly planned this, and with an awkward but earnest gesture, he extended his hand to Ren once more.
