"Yes, Grand Elder." A figure in black said from the corner of Master Cao's house. The candles had flickered out, creating a dark void of shadow from which the figure crouched beneath the cover of darkness.
"You aren't to be seen." Master Cao said. "If there is even the slightest chance that you will be exposed, you are to retreat and try again another day."
"And if I am attacked?" The figure asked. The voice was delicate and sweet but straight to the point. She was a thin woman, and her mask covered the lower half of her face, revealing her eyes. However, those eyes seemed as if they could burn through steel.
"You may defend yourself." Master Cao said.
"Does my master know about this assignment?" She asked.
"No, and I hope it will stay that way." Master Cao said.
"That will cost you more." She said bluntly.
"I will pay any price. Just make sure you aren't caught."
