I noticed that Director Cao didn't seem to have any reaction, so I just pulled out the chair and walked towards the office door. The moment I opened the door, Director Cao suddenly spoke up, "Wait a moment."

"Director Cao, I've not hidden anything from you, yet you're still keeping secrets from me. Clearly, you're still treating me like a regular student. I think I have nothing more to say," I said, turning back towards Director Cao.

"Ah, come back and sit down. Whatever you want to know, just ask me. I promise I'll hold nothing back," Director Cao seemed to have made up his mind. It looked like he was a rather responsible Director of Student Affairs, also taking into account student safety. Normally, if it was any other Director of Student Affairs, they might have given me trouble for speaking like this, or even com up with some nonsensical reason to expel me.

There was a faint upward curve at the corner of my mouth, so slight that Director Cao wouldn't notice it.
