Office Interrogations

"What did the big boss want?" Marc asked as soon as he noticed me slipping out of the Lex's office.

It seemed that he wasn't the only one that was eagerly waiting for me to return. One by one my officemates turned their attention to me. 

"Additional work," I grumbled, pretending to be annoyed.

I had hoped that I had acted well enough, that they bought into my excuse.

"What kind?" Emily asked as she joined us.

I looked around, in the hopes that Cassandra would be nearby, but it seemed that my luck had already ran out and the other assistant seemed to be missing.

If she had been there, I was certain that Cassandra would have saved me and told the others to stop hounding me and get back to work. 

Unfortunately for me, Cassandra was probably off doing work for Lex.

"He had me on a project investigating and reviewing old PR releases of the compay, now he wants me to expand the search," I said with a shrug as I returned to my desk.
