*TN: Sorry for the major delay, adjusting to college life once again, barely getting any sleep from the amount of work Im getting, I just barely have time to edit this.*
"There's no mistaking it, the spies that we hire provided the information that they themselves witnessed with their own eyes. It wasn't a mistake" the staff member repeated.
"Yes! So it is confirmed... fuck me, this is a shitshow..." Leonard smiled with joy at first, but his expression soon turned to one of worry as he walked back and forth around the conference table several times.
If Ajax was alone and had no skills, then he could be toyed with and killed at the border. However, now that Ajax has the Lazoole Society as his backer combined with his sudden outburst of unknown strength, catching Ajax has become a whole new ball game.
"Why don't we... Why don't we ask for help from the upper echelons?" The staff quietly said with a lowered head as he pointed his finger up.
Although he was not a pilot, he knew what a Warlock-Level Mech and the person piloting it meant. It wasn't something they were prepared to handle; they had to ask the headquarters to send someone.
"Ask for help? Are you fucking nuts? Do you have any idea of what would happen if I can't catch this kid on my own and dare to ask for help?! Fuck!" Leonard was furious.
Originally, he was solely responsible for this matter, and arresting Ajax was an action that he was forced to take just so that he could reduce his responsibility in the matter. Ask help from above, he might as well just slit his own throat and have his corpse personally hand his head over to the higher-ups?
Leonard scolded the young employee which caused them to shut his mouth and lower his head. He feared he would say something wrong again.
"Do the authorities know about this information? If they do, how did they react?" Leonard asked as a frown crept onto his face.
"Yes, they do. But they refused to send anyone and excused themselves saying that they didn't have the manpower to send anyone to the border at the moment. As we know, the Congress from the Kingdom of Uz will declare war against the Blauth Empire. Of course, before any action is taken they would have to submit a request to the Kingdom of Uz first, something that would take a while..." The staff stated.
"So they would have to submit a request. A whole galactic year would pass by the time they get it approved. Fuck-I'm sorry." Leonard had mixed feelings about things. He was both happy and angry, and his face contorted from time to time.
The clerk didn't know what to say so he just kept his mouth shut.
"How many people do you think we can spare to send to the border and catch Ajax?" Leonard asked after he calmed down and sat on a chair.
"Sending infantry there would be useless, plus, we don't have many strong pilots to spare..." The staff said helplessly. Asking their people to catch a pilot who was piloting a Warlock-Level Mech would be suicidal, let alone one who within a day proved his brutal effectiveness.
"Well, that makes sense. What about the authorities, do you think they can deal with him?" Leonard narrowed his eyes again.
"Yeah.....they should be able to. No matter how strong his fighting prowess is, he has a limit. It would be impossible to face several mech teams at the same time." The young staff member nodded.
"Alright, then we'll just wait for them to send people to capture Ajax. Oh, by the way, level up get rid of the Lazoole Society so that we can take over the mine in the future." Leonard said as he leaned back on the chair.
"But sir, we have been prohibited from sending troops, why don't we just wait..." The staff thought that Leonard hadn't understood what he had said, so he repeated his words with a wry smile.
"I understand that we can't step foot on the border as a security team, but who said anything about the identity of ordinary pilots?" Leonard sneered, "Tell the person in charge of the investigation team that if they don't do what I say, a little video of them collecting money will find its way onto the front pages by tomorrow. And if you help me catch Ajax, a sum of money will be transferred to their account."
As the general manager of the Bedrichi Branch of the Ashlin Group, Leonard still had some strings he could pull. According to his knowledge and social circle, anything was possible as long as you had the money.
"Before you leave, make sure you find the source of that Warlock-Level Mech. Review it carefully."
"Understood, I'll make arrangements right away." The staff memorized what Leonard said and walked out of the office.
Leonard continued to lean on the chair, slightly closing his eyes as the video of the battle just now reminded him of a piece of news from over 10 years ago. There was a man who single-handedly killed several mech teams of the authorities in the Blauth Empire and then dropped off the radar leaving no trace behind. He also piloted a Warlock-Level Mech. So many people were mobilized to search for it but failed to find it.
He was just a small employee back then. After he became the general manager in recent years, he discovered that the headquarters of the Ashlin Group was also investigating this matter.
He had heard that the previous manager had been demoted due to his failure to handle this matter, and later he lost his job. This was the reason for his promotion, so he would always remember it. He didn't know the why, and he didn't ask why.
Although Ajax couldn't possibly be that person due to his age, Leonard still felt the need to investigate. If he could find a connection, then it would be considered a great achievement...

Due to the pressure of the Ashlin Group, the top investigation team compromised and secretly dispatched 20 of its members to the border. They all belonged to the strong control pilots of the armored division of the police force. Each of them had passed their examinations with flying colors and were quite experienced.
They received the order to go to the border to secretly arrest the criminal Ajax and to cripple, if possible, completely wipe out the organization that protects Ajax. But under no circumstances were they to reveal their true identities; even if they did, the Blauth Empire wouldn't own up to it.
After simple preparations, they made their way to the border. As for their mechs and equipment, they would be sent over by the transportation team of the Ashlin Group.
Leonard was satisfied with the actions of the senior management of the police team and also sent two mech teams of his own to go there. These 2 mech teams were composed of thugs and bodyguards of the Ashlin Group; their abilities may be unbalanced and incomparable with the police force, but they were all pilots nonetheless.
A new storm was brewing and it was heading directly towards the border with Ajax being at the eye of it.
After Ajax returned to the camp, he was recognized by the Lazoole Society as their top combatant. Bomen wanted him to stay in the mining area to deter the Hell's League from attacking. But Ajax wanted to return to her residence, eager to salvage anything from the dozen or so tattered mechs he had seized.
After a day in the mining area and realizing that the Hell's League was not willing to attack for the time being, Ajax informed Bomen about his intended return to the camp.
Bomen couldn't resist Ajax after all of the things he had done for them, so he could only send an additional six mechs to garrison the mining area. Monkey also left with Ajax, planning to stick by his side for as long as possible and thinking that if he could learn a little bit from Ajax and become a pilot, he wouldn't starve to death at the border.
Although the camp had now mobilized a large number of troops to defend the business district and the mining area, the addition of the new forces from the Four Tribes and their recruitment drive from the past 2 days had made the place livelier than ever.
On the way, many operators took the initiative to say hello to Ajax. Whether they be newcomers or old people, Ajax's deeds had been deeply engraved in their hearts.
Ajax had grown accustomed to people being rude to him throughout his life, so he was not good at dealing with compliments from others, he just nodded in embarrassment and hurried back to his tool room.
The piles of damaged mechs piled up here hadn't been touched, and the scent of undissipated gunpowder smoke permeated the air as he got closer.
